Did Canyon messed up real good in the UK too ?

Had a chap from road.cc contact me last night. They're running something on this fiasco later this week....
Really??
I will be very interested to read that. Not sure where exactly their focus would fall as the only issue that i can see is Canyon not meeting the original estimated delivery date. BUT, when they don't take the money before the bike is ready for dispatch they are not breaking any financial rules. They also do not stop or charge customers cancelling orders at any time prior to the bike being sent, and clearly state that the delivery times are estimates and subject to change.
The slow email responses from Canyon are poor customer service, but, from my experience, they usually reply within 48-72 hours which is as good as other online stores (such as Wiggle etc).
The main complaints all appear to stem from the delay in the shipping of the bike yet this is well documented throughout Canyons history and if buyers have done any research they should have been aware this was likely.
It appears that more than a few people have been billed for bikes they still haven't got.
I think the bigger issue is the lack of comms now. I've sent three emails in in the last 3 weeks. None have been replied to.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -

The billing thing is a concern but i will be very surprised if that turns out to be accurate. From past experience i know they don't charge the card/account until the bike is ready for dispatch. If the payment has been taken then perhaps the bikes have been delayed in transit over the Xmas period??
Whilst i do appreciate how frustrated you must be not getting your emails replied to, i can only speak from my experience which is a reply with 2-3 days of sending the email (apart from when i needed technical support on my first canyon, when i had pretty much immediate replies and support).
I actually emailed them yesterday so will be interesting to see if / when i get a response.
My advice to you would be to try forwarding the original email you sent, mark it as urgent and stress that you are extremely unhappy with the customer service & lack of responses. That might prompt a response if they have somehow missed your previous emails.0 -

Sadly I do know someone personally. Bike was delayed by 3 months and cancelled. Payment was taken on 21st Dec. No bike. He's had no joy in getting his money back yet. There's something badly wrong going on IMO.
My previous experience was positive, remember this isn't my first rodeo with them.
Having now tried emailing (and having Canyon UK email Canyon Germany on the 23rd December no response to that either), tweeting, and calling, and all falling on deaf ears.
My last email to them was Monday - cancelling the order with a PDF of the formal revocation attached. No reponse.....Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -

That is alarming. How did your friend pay? If it was via his credit card advise him to get his CC company to reclaim payment.0 -

The whole Canyon set up is a mess. Another example was my first order; ordered months in advance, they kept telling me it was getting shipped, being built, when nothing further happened I eventually found out they'd sold out of my stem and bar combo and didn't have some of the components. Not sure how that happened with a 5 month old order? I only found out it wasn't coming when I received an order form/invoice with a delivery date in the following 2 months.
I'm not saying they tell lies but their whole system needs sorting out.
The main thing is all this shi*te ends up detracting from the bike somehow. I'm still have a bit of resentment attached to it, that shouldn't happen if you've shelled out 5 grand no matter what you've bought..0 -
'Dear Guy,
Many thanks for your e-mail.
We have cancelled this order. You will receive a full confirmation within the next 24 hours.
Sincerely,
Canyon Bicycles Ltd'
That's it. No apology, no explanation. Nothing.

The other place has a similar thread with some horror stories, particularly the guy who cancelled (eventually) but still got billed and then had to fight to get his money back.

I've ordered an Endurace CF 7.0 and have an estimate of March 28th. I know to take it with a pinch of salt and I still have the flexibility of looking at bikes elsewhere in the mean time as Canyon aren't due to charge me until a few weeks before shipping.
There are other good offers out there (Supersix Evo with 105 at a grand) but I just can't get any bargains in a small or medium.
Get a Dolan L'Etape Ultegra for £100 more!
I find them Dolan's to be ugly. The Canyon isn't exactly a looker but it's understated at least.
If the Canyon goes tits up I'll probably look at a Mach 720 from Decathlon.0 -
Hilariously I had that cancellation confirmed today
Then two hours later Canyon UK tweet me saying '@guycollierphoto Get us on chat and we can update you.'
I've just been to LBS, test ridden the Giant Defy and bought that, collecting later today.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -

I've actually had a response to my query this morning too and interestingly they have reiterated there are no further delays on my order and it will be with me in March - i say interesting because i didn't ask any question about the delivery this time, just queried the stem length.
Disappointed for you that you've missed out on the Canyon but glad to hear you have found an alternative. Enjoy your new bike!0 -

Last time I looked they had the 105 version of those at £800! The Campag Athena version (beautiful) was only £1100!
You've answered your own question then haven't you!Trail fun - Transition Bandit

So both Road.cc and cycling weekly have run a story that originated on the bike radar web site!
That's a little cheeky.0 -

Just canceled an order. Wanted a new bike for Spring with my order being quoted for early April. Don't want to risk it. They cancelled my order within 3 hours. Who says they don't work quickly?0

Shame. What I find worrying about this thread is that the OP stirred the pot then disappeared, without stating their own experiences with Canyon.Don't know if this has been covered before. Want a Nerve 29 ? That will put you back until mid may 2016. Ultimate cf sl or slx ? Estimated time late march for my size. Let alone those who have ordered the bike in september and had their early november delivery cancelled without further notice... Way to go Roman
I was near to ordering an Ultimate. Can you tell me what your experiences with Canyon have been, and in what country ? I'm guessing they weren't good.
Why would someone do that, is the question I find myself asking. :?:
The two Online-direct-retailers I've been looking at are PX and Canyon. Are there any others I should look at, or they the only two direct competitors in the online-direct bike arena ?0 -

I feel a bit bad about cancelling the order without really giving them a chance. My bad feelings didn't last long though as I just ordered a 2015 Supersix Evo 105 and saved £200 in the process.0

Ordered 2 bikes from Rose and one from Canyon. All 3 have been brilliant bikes.0

Cancelled mine Wednesday at 09.00 still no reply. I know it hasnt been the 3 days but im not likely to get a response over the weekend. What a business when you can afford to throw away how many thousands of pounds and not bat an eyelid.0

What's amazing is that this is not new.
The words 'Canyon' and 'delivery problems' have gone hand in hand for years.
The current problems are just worse than usual. And their total lack of empathy or 'giving a sh*t' is shocking.
It's incredible that despite that, they are growing exponentially and can't meet the demand, whilst LBS's languish and go bust.
Surely someone out there can market a range of bikes just as attractive, just as good value and pinch some business off them? Boardman? Ribble?0
