I'm amazed anyone puts up with this crap.

Probably because they sell 1000's of units world wide and get a handful of complaints, i was on the phone to them today, got through after a min or 2, reassured that the end of jan delivery (ordered mid November) for Aeroad 6.0 is still on target.......
So, my LBS is giving a 6 week wait on a TCR in a S, 2016 model, they could nt get through to Giant via tel to confirm :(

    I've conceded defeat.

From an initial ship date of 30th Nov (remember I ordered an Ultimate last Feb and that arrived 8 days later) that then slipped into second week of December. Phone call indicated 14th Dec for shipping. Came and went. Email circular from Canyon telling me the bike was now available as a stock item, mine still nowhere to be seen.Further call said ship date of 21st Dec. Came and went again. Called 23rd December and Canyon UK emailed Canyon Germany promising a reply by 28th Dec. I'm still waiting for that reply.

Sat on hold for an hour last week and no answer at all. Canyon UK tweet this morning that chat is back online. It's not. Sat on hold for another 30 mins today and was cut-off with no answer.

Multiple tweets have had no response.

So I've just emailed them cancelling the order.

An absolute joke. Off to my LBS on Wednesday to get one from them. That day.

    That's disgusting.

I did finally have a tweet from them. Saying chat was up.

    It wasn't.

I replied saying I'd emailed them cancellation.

No reply to that or the actual email.
Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.

Had a similar nightmare two years ago when I ordered an "in stock" CF SLX which was supposed to be delivered to me within the next few days. Canyon kept putting back the delivery date week after week for something like two or three months. I was offered free Oakleys and various items of cycle clothing as compensation but finally cancelled my order after Canyon UK could give no indication as to when my bike would arrive. They were very apologetic and admitted there were many British customers suffering similar delays at that time. It was a dreadful customer experience. Clearly there are still problems.

I hope for your sake it does arrive on time, but based on what I've seen I'd say it's 50/50 at best.

Bad news for the people who have had delays etc but my CF SL was ordered from stock and was delivered 10 days later with a free stem that they had forgotten to fit when I ordered a longer one. I have no complaints about Canyon but going on the experiences of others my next bike will probably be a different brand.

this all seems a bit negative. maybe my next bike won't be a canyon.

Thing is when the bikes do arrive then there are rarely any complaints as they are fantastic bikes.

Again i repeat, if you buy a Canyon you do so in the knowledge that you get unbelievable value for money, a top top bike, BUT also that delivery can take quite a time.

It says to me that they can't keep their sh*t together, which would make me concerned about other aspects of the company.

I've ridden a few as hire bikes, and yes, no problems at all, but this has been going on for years now, and they still can't sort it out?

From Cala d'Or by any chance? As that's been my only experience of riding a Canyon, although I thought it was an outstanding bike. But even the customer service at their hire place was, well, below expectations.

Na, they just always underestimate the delivery times.
Besides, its not just Canyon who do that. A friend of mine ordered a brand new car from well known manufacturer (car maker recently in the news over emissions) 6 months ago, with delivery estimated to be 8 weeks from date of order. He is still waiting!

It is poor customer service i grant you, but Canyon don't take payment until the bike is ready for shipping so those who do need/want the bike sooner can cancel and buy else where.

No, there is a big fleet of them just outside Palma. We tend to use CF SL 9.0's. Good solid bike, nothing exceptional.

you can repeat it all you like
but as i said earlier, if your buying a uk bike in pounds, that vfm aspect is nt what it used to be, my LBS is giving 15% off some 2016 bikes ordered in January.
Many manufacturers are close to them on spec and price, without some very long lead times, order now and many Canyons wont get delivered until April/May or june.

so i am hedging my bets right now :)

I've ordered an Endurace CF 7.0 and have an estimate of March 28th. I know to take it with a pinch of salt and I still have the flexibility of looking at bikes elsewhere in the mean time as Canyon aren't due to charge me until a few weeks before shipping.

There are other good offers out there (Supersix Evo with 105 at a grand) but I just can't get any bargains in a small or medium.

For me the real issue here has been the utter and complete lack of comms.

They could have got in front of this. The CEO could have written something to people waiting explaining the issues, maybe making a gesture. At least acknowledge the problem, and here's what we're doing about it. Clarity and honesty. It gets you a long way.

Instead there was a one liner for about a month, saying 'delivery times might be affected by internal ops'

That's pathetic. And it's what has really grated.

In the space of 6 months they've turned me from a fan into a very disgruntled ex-customer.

  • I posted this on another forum in reply to a very similar thread, copied it as I couldn't bear writing it all again and am worried about my blood pressure levels when talking about my various Canyon orders.

'I've become a bit of a Canyon expert, unfortunately mostly for the wrong reason!
I've got an Aeroad, sure it's a nice bike alright but the whole process of getting it was shockingly bad. I was genuinely shocked, I guess I'd figured on German efficiency, in fact that was one of the selling points but nothing could be further from the truth!
I've placed maybe 6 orders with Canyon, 2 totally screwed up bike orders - 2 bad tempered cancellations, got the bike on the 3rd but it was an enforced 2nd choice which may or may not be too big for me, took 2 months to get a Garmin mount for it which has subsequently proven to be sh**e, 2 water bottles - even they came independently though ordered at the same time and had a foul plastic taste which has only just gone after 2 months, they screwed up my race licence discount which meant the bike cost £250 more than I'd figured - it took them 2 months to do that by which time the bikes that could be discounted had sold out, very badly put together in their workshop - 2 loose crank bolts - crank arms nearly came of on about the second ride. Their customer service is terrible, it's a shame, their uk based guys all seem like nice guys but are powerless to do anything other than relay to the shower of shite at the German HQ.
They might as well sell the things straight out of a vending machine.
There is more but I've forgotten the details. I'll admit to secretly hoping that the thing arrived in the box smashed to bits as that would of capped it off nicely.'

    You get the jist..

    Really??
I will be very interested to read that. Not sure where exactly their focus would fall as the only issue that i can see is Canyon not meeting the original estimated delivery date. BUT, when they don't take the money before the bike is ready for dispatch they are not breaking any financial rules. They also do not stop or charge customers cancelling orders at any time prior to the bike being sent, and clearly state that the delivery times are estimates and subject to change.

The slow email responses from Canyon are poor customer service, but, from my experience, they usually reply within 48-72 hours which is as good as other online stores (such as Wiggle etc).

The main complaints all appear to stem from the delay in the shipping of the bike yet this is well documented throughout Canyons history and if buyers have done any research they should have been aware this was likely.
