Jeepers. Lindsay Graham's moral compass has been on quite a journey since he was a friend of John McCain.

This pardon stuff the yanks do seems to be nuts.

Does the equivalent exist in the UK? I know there's some posthumous stuff.

Being suggested that Trump will pardon about 100 people tomorrow. It'll be interesting to see if any of these are subsequently litigated for being rewards covering up for his own alleged crimes, or that they are in return for payment. At this point it pretty much seems a given that anything Trump does is for the worst reason.

Makes you wonder whether the authorities have held back on prosecuting any of his cronies until he's out of the door to prevent this happening.

I'd say no as everyone was in with him and Barr and if anyone Trump related was going to be prosecuted during his presidency would have been the time to do it as they know they would get short/pardoned sentences.

It'll be a lot of very wealthy people who can help in the next few years post pres resettlement.

surely our equivalent is the honours system giving you a pardon in the eyes of society and if given a seat in the Lords a very nice payout for the rest of your life

I thought the HS reserved the right to pardon based on advice from the Privy Counsel?

Trump Biden reminds me of American gun debate. You try to introduce some measures to restrict access to guns and ammo to people that really should not have guns and you are going to take a the guns. When Biden tries to give them some healthcare trump supporters will be calling him a communist. Its just such an extreme reaction that is not based on the evidence. It would be funny if it was not so baffling.

It would be politically unpalatable for DB to write it off, not just in the US but in Germany also. The damage to their already poor reputation could kill them. They won’t do it.

lol damage to the reputation? Can't damage something that's already demolished.

Here's a hit list of some of the bigger scandals.

yup, its a bank hahah they dont get that big without a few bumps along the way

Ref DT and his loans from D Bank - isn't the theory that the money came originally from Russia, to prop him up so he could become their useful idiot, and was channelled through DB to make it legit? Or is that all hogwash?

I did read from multiple sources that he doesn't actually own most / a lot of the stuff with his name on it (hotels etc) and that its basically a branding agreement - if the brand becomes toxic there's not a lot of substance (real estate) for Trump Org to actually sell to cover the debts.

Hopefully it will be irrelevant as he'll end up in jail for multiple financial and s3x crimes anyway.

do your multiple sources include the owner of a bike shop / COO specialist?
Great addition to the thread, well done.

Decides to announce a lifting of travel bans from the EU and UK as his final touch. Total clown.

I see they are also having to check all the police and military drafted in to help with security as they've finally realised that Trump has a strong base among them.

    Total tantrum toddler more like.

There are quotes from former head of FBI James Comey about the orange buffoon's need for constant affirmation, like a 2-3 year old rather than an adult. Oh, and compares him to a mob boss as well.

Vlad's lads really did a great job helping inflict this twunt on to the US and hence the rest of us. The chasms in society ain't gonna close any time soon.

    A common tactic.

He's just wrecking the joint on the way out of the door. That's the only 'logic' now. Just wait to see the list of hoodlums he's going to pardon.

I think that might be has best one yet: musically, and in the points he makes. It makes you realise just how crazy the past four years of Trump have been.

He is still president until noon.

    Just for clarification, 17:00 GMT.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    Have to laugh.

Elected partly on a campaign promise of drain the swamp.

Spent 4 years filling it and his last hours spent trying to rapidly overfill it.

If there's one thing that comes out of this Swampy McSwampface episode, one hopes it is that it's not enough to rely on norms and the decency of the incumbent and party in power to preserve them. Biden's made his first signal by saying that voting rights will be top of the agenda as soon as he's sworn in. But there's a fairly long list of tweaks - not least forcing Presidential candidates to release their tax returns - that would help prevent quite such a dangerous and compromised lunatic to get their hands on the reins of power and the nuclear codes.

It would be nice if it didn't, but that rather depends on what the Republicans do and whether Trump continues to inspire them to carry on the way they have for the past four years.

I suspect Trump hasn't inspired many people in the republican party for a long time if at all.

There was a lot of chat about how people should stop talking about him after the election. Nothing worthy of discussion has happened since then has it?

I'm sure things will remain equally 'boring' on the Donald front for a little while to come.

Stevo why don't you lead by example?
