Thank god Stevo hasn't mentioned Corbyn since he lost the Labour leadership to Starmer.
Not sure how Trump is particularly relevant to us after 5pm today. But you're free to carry on posting about him as much as you like. As are others who felt the need to reply to my point.

If you can't see the point in reflecting on how a US President tried to overturn an election in the world's biggest democracy and nuclear power, then you're at the same liberty not to comment.

Trump pardoned the guy being prosecuted for defrauding Trump supporters

The irony was posting here purely to tell people that it was not obligatory to post here.

Someone had to say it. Judging by the reaction, it hit the spot.

There was a lot of chat about how people should stop talking about him after the election. Nothing worthy of discussion has happened since then has it?

I'm sure things will remain equally 'boring' on the Donald front for a little while to come.

Stevo why don't you lead by example?

Thread is dead at 5pm today I think.
If only you could get Trump to sign an order for that one before he's out the door. :p

What has Bannon got on Trump?

Bannon contributed to the Wolffe book on Trump, called Trump treasonous in his dealings with Russia and called Ivanka as dumb as a brick.

Trump said Bannon had lost his mind, said that he had nothing to do with them winning the election and also threatened legal action against him

    There's something fishy there.

Hasn't done much since the election? Have you suffered a blow to the head lately?

As for the future, I expect him to get prosecuted in the senate, get prosecuted in state courts, talk some shit and make mischief.

Well, Nero fiddled while Rome burned (allegedly), and he still gets talked about, albeit without a thread in Cake Stop.

Interesting he didn’t pardon his family members (or at least I don’t think he did). I was expecting him to give his odious daughter a safety blanket.

What's he done? Sulked like a five year old about losing. Started some frivolous and vexatious law suits which attracted little attention and were dismissed as such. Called for people to violently demonstrate in DC which has got him put on the naughty step with GOP and banned from Twiiter and Facebook.

You are right that the latter point was something noteworthy not involving golf, but what it has led to is more irrelevance.

Maybe the various prosecutions will provide some news, but my feeling is that he will become irrelevant.

I could be completely wrong. Perhaps, one of the Trumps will run in 2024 and we will get involved.

Well, it might not be just what he will do, but rather what stories come out of the woodwork about what he previously did, when he's no longer in office.

Too much obsession about the soon to be no longer head of a foreign state.

    Roll on 5 pm.

  • Since the election... He declared victory, launched 60 lawsuits, held rallies in Georgia, tried to overturn the election result, tried to pressure officials to overturn the election result, held a rally in DC that didn't end too well, told rioters that he loved them, rolled back environmental protection on some national parks to allow drilling, pardoned his buddy, rolled back some ethics laws, had a bunch more judges confirmed (and nominated a load). And played golf.

After Bush left office the extent of his approval for kidnapping, torturing and sometimes killing became known. What happened? Nothing. Oh, Obama received a Nobel Peace Prize in the hope that he would do something.

I think you might have overlooked his doing nothing for a pandemic that's killing about 3,000 US people a day at the moment. Minor point, I realise...

I think he has acted as a catalyst for dysfunction in the US political system. As the only democratic super power and its history of acting world police for democracies (at least, in public), that's material.

His presidency created a global leadership vacuum, bad enough in normal times but more costly in a global pandemic.

He has also mismanaged the US approach to the pandemic.

He has also moved the US materially backwards, or at least slowed it, in terms of a national commitment to helping prevent climate change.

I don't think much of that is irrelevant.

He is still president until noon.

I bet this thread will carry on for some time after that though.

It would be nice if it didn't, but that rather depends on what the Republicans do and whether Trump continues to inspire them to carry on the way they have for the past four years.
I suspect Trump hasn't inspired many people in the republican party for a long time if at all.

Negation - he’s inspired loads of people to cntsu

He’s been very successful in that.

He removed an executive order banning whitehouse staff from lobbying today as well

But in a move that's received less publicity, the outgoing president has also revoked his own executive order on government lobbying.

Executive Order 13770 bans government workers from becoming lobbyists for five years after the end of their employment.

President Trump signed it in 2017, and its withdrawal could open up employment opportunities for any outgoing staff.

not quite sure that an outgoing Trumpie staffer will gain easy access to an ear in the Biden adminstration though. Guess they can roll on to QAnon and the like.
