And now the Mueller document court saying that Manafort had lied while pretending to be a co-operating witness is out: https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov ... .460.0.pdf - it's worth reading, despite all the redactions, as it's clear that Mueller knows who in the White House Manafort was relaying information to... more than one 'Administration official'. Juicy stuff.

I really didn't get Twitter until that loon got into the White House. It's a place to be wary of, for sure, where disinformation can spread like wildfire, but for its immediacy in reacting to the shenanigans going on at the WH, it's been solid entertainment. It's also been useful in digging where the traditional media have failed: while even places like the Washington Post and other respected media sources have been somewhat reluctant to call lies lies and to embrace fully the real possibility that Trump is at the heart of a thoroughly criminal enterprise (allowing all the smoke and mirrors to divert their attention to the surface chaos), certain Twitter people have just carried on digging away, relentlessly. And while you need to always be sceptical, with the ever-present risk of slipping into multiple conspiracy theories, it's undoubtedly served a useful purpose. At the same time, it's provided the platform that has sustained a deluded, dangerous, criminal loon as 'President' of the US.
  • Absolutely. On the plus side, on that last point, it's useful for evidence against him too.

Someone mentioned the other day that in the Rick Gates plea deal it specifically stated he was allowed to talk wth the legal teams of other potential co-conspirators but that this same clause wasn't in the Manafort plea deal.

It's almost as if Mueller set a trap* not just for Manafort but also his co-conspirators knowing they wouldn't be able to resist the bait.

*Of course it is not a trap nor perjury trap but failure of Manafort to abide by the agreed plea deal.

When you’re aiming at insular folks with a short attention span in need of instant gratification, 128 characters certainly seem to do the job. The perfect tool for the perfect tool.

The wording of Manafort's 'contract' with Mueller would appear to have been drafted specifically to include the possibility that he might be stupid enough to think he could get round it. That he or his accomplices were texting incriminating info after he'd signed it, and knowing that the FBI have some fairly sophisticated ways of intercepting communications, suggests a level of brazenness, or stupidity, which is astonishing. But then, he's only taking his lead in that from the loon at the top...

The idea of a European Military didn’t work out too well in W.W. I or 2. But the U.S. was there for you, and always will be. All we ask is that you pay your fair share of NATO. Germany is paying 1% while the U.S. pays 4.3% of a much larger GDP - to protect Europe. Fairness!

I think that a European Army would be a good idea and would be effective in both a military context and would allow overlap costs to be reduced. The command issue would be overwhelmingly difficult because the small minded (like some on this forum) would not countenance a foreigner in charge.

But Trump is right about martial aid - all that Europe could manage was Dunkirk. The invasion of Normandy took place with the aid of American troops - and of course commonwealth troops too. Winning the war was not a British victory although no other European country can claim to be a victor - ours was a joint victory with the USA...and Russia... and the Commonwealth. I suppose even scotchland contributed in one of its rare sober moments.

And lets be honest - it was Obama who said the Middle East is our back yard and not Americas so some cohesion within European states is needed for this axis is truly reserved for us.

But who gives one if the USA is paying too much - we can't afford it and neither can any European country - we are learning the lesson established within the United States that republicanism and the partisan country is the way forward with different social models. Or ignore France and ignore populism and see where it gets you.

Apparently Drumpf thinks that the Paris Agreement was something to stop people rioting in Paris... well, it has got the word 'Paris' in it, and I expect Drump's picture dictionary has a picture of the Eiffel tower next to the entry for Paris, so he understands that bit... who needs to read beyond that to know what it's all about, when you're a stable genius?

Now that he’s seen off one of the last remaining adults in the room, Kelly, we will be back to a White House where every man and his dog can just walk in a wind him up... the show must go on for the clown president

Amazing. Obviously someone hasn't been taking their meds.

His whole staff must just sit there every time he tweets something and shake their heads.

Could you imagine taking him down the pub? It would be staggering. There must be a Father Ted sketch that would fit this situation perfectly.

You feel intimidated by our wit, wisdom, knowledge, erudite use of language and the fact that we are better looking than you.

Our children will just shake their heads at us. In no way can we admonish them for any stupidity for they shall just hold up pictures of JRM, Bojo and Dotard and silence us forever.

"But someday this is already certain, no senior American public official--not Richard Nixon, not Andrew Johnson--will go down in more disgrace or be more reviled by history than Donald Trump. And that is as it should be."

The really sad thing is not only is the above true, but how long it will take for the American public to realise how bad the position is. A far too high percentage still think the garden is rosy.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

More... his supporters will think it's a conspiracy by the establishment to get rid of him.
Then we have a very divided America and i've said it before, 50% of the population will become totally disillusioned by Government.
On the plus side, the pendulum may swing right back the other way. Who know's?
