All that education and yet the best job you can find is working on a Russian troll farm..

Mate - you could claim you studied at the Starfleet Academy on Planet Zog if you like. Without evidence, it's just words on a screen.

Now claiming he wants to remove all tariffs, barriers and subsidies if the EU does. Sure, Donald, sure.

Learning time Fishbot, "it's" is a correct abbreviation of "it is". So your point was what...?

Also you missed the apostrophe in "stupid persons preface" to indicate the possessive. You really must do better. Innit

I would say there is plenty of circumstantial evidence on this thread and others. Leaving aside your poor grammar, you're right in as much as 'mate' probably was a poor choice. I should have said 'tovarisch'.

This was discussed a couple of pages back - seems people don't even think the EU should even try.

Isn't that proof the fishy one is English (or English speaking)?

I mean translation software will have those simple rules covered surely? He's a native English speaker, no idea which country he's from (assumption male for unknown reason).

I don't. It's a waste of time. Trump has no intention of negotiating in good faith on this. If he believed it, he wouldn't have torpedoed the several years worth of effort the USA and the EU had already put into trying to get a deal.

He has no intention of removing subsidies. He tweeted this today, at the same time he is putting together an executive order for more farm subsidies to help with some of the pain his great tariffs are causing.

Wherever he's from, it simply proves that trolls can get themselves tangled into all kinds of knots if people start to dig a bit deeper...

TBH it's unlikely to happen anyway but as also mentioned a few pages back, people need to distinguish between the person and the country. Trump will not be around for that long but the USA will. And there is economic potential from doing a trade deal.

Because of the other elements mentioned like non-tariff restrictions to trade as one of his three elements to be tackled. There's the suspicion that'll just be code for you work to our standards not yours. Considering a fair few of the agriculture standards would not get into the EU, there is likely to be issues with UK trade deal with EU of they give in to gm crops and the chicken washing regime instead of better animal and disease management as in EU system.

Which would you prefer Stevo? EU or US trade deal if the regulations issue meant one of the other? Considering we're already trading ok with America.

Of course, but if the person in charge is going to nix any reasonable deal, why not hold off until that situation changes?

No but Sir Alexander Cairncross brother of John Cairncross of the ilk you describe was the chancellor of Glasgow University in the 70's - and as I found out recently eponomously in 1680!
Of course with Cambridge it is not your choice. It is theirs.

Yes but you're still talking about negotiating this 'wonderful' deal with Trump and his cronies. We're great danger of being rushed eyes wide open into a 'shoot' deal with a lunatic who has us over a barrel.

I'm talking about the EU doing a deal with the US, so a slight change of direction with your question here.

It's a tricky one, and even putting the Trump factor aside I would say EU as the overall level of trade is larger. But that said it's a hypothetical question as we don't have to choose either/or. No reason why we shouldn't go for both IMO.

Help us out here Fishybot with this Eochir. Us geographically challenged lesser (actual) mortals don't know where that might be, and nor it would appear does Mr Google Maps.

Is it Yoker, that quaint fishing village by the Clyde? Is it in Tir-na-nÓg? Or is it in the Kingdom of Far Far Away, just north of La La Land?
