Eeek. I wonder if that does your bike any good on the long term. Bearing seals are not 100% water proof.
Couldn't you find a bucket with a lid and keep it in the back of your car and then wash it down with a sponge/brushes after the event - even if it's just a temporary wash, whilst the dirt is still soft?
It was unrecognisable as a bike. Hence the need to dunk it. Don't worry, it was all cleaned when I got back. No grumbling from the BB30 at all. It could certainly do with a new chain and cassette post season mind.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Anyone fancy a pair of SunGod? These are my second pair, but I've changed my helmet to black, and white doesn't go. So getting some black ones instead.
These are the polarised green lenses. All boxes etc. £40.

Lol, white does not go with my cycling attire. And I already have some Oakleys with yellow frames and green lenses, so the green lens option is already catered for ;-) 8)Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Ordered a few lightweight jackets to try recently and compare and contrast.
Rapha Brevet flyweight wind jacket for £51:
Castelli Superleggera Jacket for £56:
These were going to be compared against my current Etxeondo Lasai rain jacket (Bagged for £30 or so a couple of years ago)
The Rapha I was least impressed with, it IS very light, and minimal as promised, but the fit was not optimum (for me) and the zip didn't inspire me with confidence. It was ok, but I wouldn't have had it at £51, let alone £120.
The Castelli is a thing of beauty - here's the back:
Pretty sure there are some flashes of yellow around the shoulders too, but when I say beauty, I mean the quality of the material, zip and cut of the garment - nice silicone gripper around the waistline (Rapha has that too) and it just felt really good on, and metaphorically oozed quality.
Not convinced it gives me that much over the Etxeondo (Though this does not have such a race cut), so they are both going back - I was severely tempted to keep the Superleggera.
I think I will wait until I see a decent deal on a Gore one shake dry hi viz - it must happen at some point I am sure, OR perhaps the Idro will come with some colour options and a mor palatable cost in the sales.
I appreciate a lot of people are happy to ride in the all black\dark Gore one material jackets, and I understand the argument, about bright gloves, overshoes and lights etc, but I like a bit of colour in pretty much all of my kit, so it's not just a safety argument for me, especially when shelling out so much, I have to be 100% happy with it from all aspects.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

has anyone in here got , or compared a shimano performance windbreak jersey to gabba/perfetto etc?
Mines just turned up, and the fit feels ok, but I don't feel it's very breathable, and slightly nervous about taking the tags off.
Yes, it was only £30, but that's ~4 times more expensive than my normal aldi/lidl jerseys, and is the most expensive piece of cycle clothing, other than shoes, that I own..
And I run hot. Very hot.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Any recommendations for a lightweight, breathable and foldable waterproof?
Preferably not as much $$ as the Gore/Castelli shake dry (besides, not sure I like the cut and, similar to you, the all black look).0 -

If you can get the right fit, these are good.

I've always been tempted but my on going cynicism has prevailed. Apparently, those winter cycling gloves from Lidl and Aldi are very good but either they don't sell them at our local Lidl (they've done their homework on the local demographic  and they are not wrong) or I have to drive over to Aldi 25 miles away for a £4.99 pair of gloves. Doesn't seem very environmentally friendly and cycling it would probably result in death as it's a main 'A' road frequented by mad skulled narden eyerish who always seem to be in a hurry.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

ooh yeh, I reckon Breathe would be a beast of a track.

Yeah, I'm finding I'm spending significantly more than I expected to on bike parts/tools etc ( 6 new tyres in a year, 3 bottom brackets, 3 chains, new mtb chainset, new 700c and 26" wheels) at the moment than clothing, and since my ride is only an hour each way the lidl/aldi stuff is pretty perfect. I've not done long distance stuff on the road, so really there isn't the demand, and I want to have enough kit to change it all daily ( well, apart from unpadded tights) .
The reason for the shout out was I'm working towards a perfetto/gabba style jersey to balance between my very warm aldi winter jacket for <0 that even then I boil in, and a l/s baselayer & l/s jersey that I wear <10c, that I freeze in due to wind, and I don't want to set myself back for something that isn't really much cop at all, no matter the marketing spin on it.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Good suggestion, and that's exactly where I'm stuck - it was £30 for this, or £65 for that...
If "good enough", then happy with the shimano one - but only way to find out is to try it out on a ride, which then means I can't return it.
Yes, I'm that' overspent on my cycle budget - someone said it's meant to be cheaper than owning a car...Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.
