Cheapest plus cashback is currently £220.
There are two other colours too, but clearly the best one is above.
Suspect those yellow bits are made from something else. Not sure I see the issue with the all black one. You can just wear some fluoro gloves and overshoes and you'll have enough fluoro contrast.0 -

In fact I think it soaks up the condensation better than the HH freeze which I’ve also got along with some craft winter b/layers.
Nasty smell of what exactly?!
Sweat mainly. Most of my artificial fibre tops smell really nasty after an hour or more of running. I get the same benefit from BaaBaa merino summer socks, five hours of pedalling in the hot sun with no nasty smell from sweaty feet. They are also thin enough to fit under most winter socks without making my cycling shoes feel any tighter. I have six pairs (three twin packs).0 -

I see. Never noticed but I prefer the Baabaa merino over the Craft. I also prefer my Wiggle Merino buff over the Castelli polyamanidecrylicnylon or whatever it is.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

I think we established many pages back that I run a lot hotter than you in the same gear, so I guess I sweat a lot more as well.
Apparently bacteria prefer artificial fibres as there dinner table rather than (antibacteriial) merino. So all those posh polyester variations stink up a lot more quickly.0 -

That is interesting. Sheep can be out in all weather after all. I might just smear lanolin all over myself in wet weather.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Pinno's world famous snack bar review No.#3
Another Trek. This time a Cocoa Coconut protein flapjack. It's also Gluten free. Is it par cours to sell Gluten free snack bars at the checkout?
I dunno about you lot but I find that any that protein based snack bar can be heavy and there's always a sort of metallic undertone to them.
This little 50g bar packs a claimed 9g of protein and 468k/cal, which is quite a lot for a 50g bar.
Initial taste is good. It's not too heavy and it's quite palatable. If you are like me and sometimes eat on the bike, you don't want anything too crumbly as you can choke easy. One hand holding the flapjack and the other for your drinks bottle can be a little bit tricky. I also find that if it falls on the deck, it can make it a bit crunchy and difficult to chew. So striking the balance between not too crumbly, not too dry or having a tendency to fall apart on you, is a tricky one.
I think this one has all those properties that will keep you moving and is very palatable, without being too heavy.
2 bars in your back pocket will give you over 900k/cals, enough to follow a Barn Owl over all terrain for a while.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

They sound really tasty and ideal for Audaxing but looking at a website when I went to order it looks like 468kcal is per 100g not the 50g bar?
I must admit, I used a magnifying glass to see the small print on the wrapper, so it could well be.
You're quite right, Sainsbury's list the nutritional info.. Scroll down:

And if the weather is not so good on the day, the Tiburu Mille GT Gilet would be a nice match. And don't forget to pack the Tiburu shorts with some arm and knee warmers and a water/windproof shell. And some gloves. They'll all come in handy if the weather is iffy.
This type of combination has got me comfortably round a few Alpine Sportives in less than perfect weather.0 -

Does anyone have an opinion on Outrider kit? There are heavily discounted items at Always Riding at the moment.

I bought the red one
Cos I was intrigued. Looks weird, but if it works.....
Essentially those loose sleeves are detached from the fleece inside, ditto the rear. So more insulation in a lighter package.
It arrived today, test tomorrow in the cold but, have to say, got a large (XL in Bonka) and it's so much more comfortable. Assos Mille stuff just fits me better. Cut is identical to the Mille S7 Evo Jacket (intermediate replacement)My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Used my new Bonka gloves today... Amazing. Fully waterproof and toasty warm.0

I also have the new Assos Mille GT jersey on the way, courtesy of Assos. No idea what colour. Could look like this:
Loads of new gear coming from them, GT Mille SS jerseys and, I understand, a complete revamp of the jackets for next winter. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

I will be interested to read what you think of it's performance, especially regarding it's breathabilty.

First use today. Arguably not quite as cold outside as I'd dressed for so the Mille tights were probably overkill.
Breathability seems a bit better than the Bonka but too early to tell. What is impressive, and expected, is that you stick it on in the house and walk out, that warmth remains rather than needing to get up to speed and generate warmth. Essentially it's a giant thin fleece outside which is attached to the outer layer sparingly so pretty much all of it is floating and loose. That's fairly clear from the pics.
The outer layers are perhaps a bit thinner than the Bonka but that air trapped layer seems to be better for outright warmth. A better endurance jacket than race jacket? Looks very cold next week so proper testing. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Took the R1 calliper off the rear of the bike tonight and replaced it with a Hy:Rd. The R1 wasn't returning despite a full bleed a few weeks back and new pads, thought it was the cable but after lubing the cable the problem still persists.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

I'd have a word with Edge Sports. Mine continue to be fine. Which is surprising as my cleaning effort after a CX race this year consisted of dropping the bike in the lake.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Eeek. I wonder if that does your bike any good on the long term. Bearing seals are not 100% water proof.
Couldn't you find a bucket with a lid and keep it in the back of your car and then wash it down with a sponge/brushes after the event - even if it's just a temporary wash, whilst the dirt is still soft?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
