The care instructions says to steep them overnight in cold water. Any idea why?!
Is that before first use?
It will be to help get rid of the initial load of plasticisers which will leak out of the plastic. Usually phthalates if I remember correctly, they are the things added to the plastic to make it supple enough to bend without cracking. They will always come out, no matter how many times you wash the bottle, but I suppose the overnight soak gets rid of the majority which would make a taste.

It's about bibshorts!
Dazz, I've no idea, and I confess I only learnt about it yesterday and did not do it for either the race or bibs. Doesn't seem to affect me.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

My new La Passione bibshorts say to wash before first use; maybe there's something sinister lurking in the chamois?? :shock:0 -

Well, 2 weeks off the bike on hols. Purgatory. On the plus side reviews will be coming thick and fast for a few weeks. Redwhite bibs, Cannondale CaadX and SuperX, Fulcrum wheels, Schwalbe S-One tyres and Conti 4 seasons, that Lumos helmet soon, Rivelo knicks. Winter is coming it seems. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Yay! Thread title rehash. Well done - glad you took my advice
Hope you're back on the bike soon.
...and to kick start it all off:
Vittoria Open Pave's (27mm). Superb tyre. I''ve put 500 miles on them since I got them. They've still got the knobbly bits. They roll well and the grip is so self assuring especially over rough tarmac going downhill.
Of the Conti's (GP4000s) and the Michelin's (Pro 3's and 4's) that I have used before, these are the best I have ever ridden.
Sorry, is this thread just for threads?1seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

That's not a holiday. Better find yourself a Brompton.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Quite. I will have my T5 rear rack soon so next year no excuse for not taking it. Mind, I'm doing the Marmotte so cycling in France a second time might have hellish memories. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

My dream and goal was the Marmotte in 2017 but kids and other commitments got in the way. Next year they will be both at school and then I can get back on track with the plan. On current mileage and form i'm a country mile off but 2 years is a long time in... well, anything. It's daunting nonetheless. Good luck.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0

On my second set of Pave's(25's) and tempted to get another pair for spares as I'm sure I've read somewhere that Vittoria has discontinued them :?: ;work really nicely with latex tubes and although they do cut up a bit only had a puncture on the first set when the rear was getting very worn.Ridley Helium SL (Dura-Ace/Wheelsmith Aero-dimpled 45 wheels)

Yes, I believe that they are discontinuing them and it's replacement is the CG iii. I have Vittoria Corsa CX on the winter bike. I'd happily put them on to the summer bike, even though it's a slight step down if you fancied them.

The Vittoria Corsa G+ Folding Graphene Tyre is apparently the best clincher tyre ever, although a little pricey. Sigma Sport were the cheapest for a while and I do fancy a pair when I wear the Pave's out.

I like them so much I even rode up and down the street on them earlier just to remind myself. Good price that. They should go on really easily and should last. I'm pretty much of the view that 30c is the new 28c.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Interesting from Assos. Much more subtle than the outgoing S7 and much much cheaper. Indeed, a bit of a bargain. Will try and get hold of one in due course. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Shame it is in the dreaded Mille fit which is no good for me, although it is probably OK for non-racing snake type body types.
Looks like they are about to replace the Bonka jacket as well. Will be interesting to see what the replacement is like and the price point. Might be interested in that as I am underwhelmed by the Castelli Alpha Jacket (not breathable enough for intensive riding).0 -

I like the Bonka very much. It's even reasonably visible because of the arm pattern. I'm always looking out for a good one on ebayMy blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Yes, I like the Bonka too. It is fantastically well made and and the slim fit model fits beautifully, but I can never bring myself to pay the sticker price!0
