This isn't the value thread ;) that's £11 mind. Par for the course pretty much. I'd not buy one unless there was postage but I guess that's the point. People will buy some bibs, chuck in the bidons, get them postage free. As it were.

    Wiggle-Water-Bottle-800ml-Water-Bottles-Graphite-SS16-0142024.jpg?w=430&h=430&a=7

    £1.99 @ Wiggle.

Surely there is an intrinsic link between value and performance. If something is cheap and works perfectly well or there is an alternative to a pair of bibs at £120 for £80, then we need to make the comparison to make the review. A review is only as good as an alternative to compare it to. Value in cycling terms is mainly down to performance. Expensive doesn't guarantee performance or quality.

But Camelbak podium bottles with their special valve are SUPERB, and well worth the money - usually around £8 a pop, though the other year I picked up a raft of them for £4 each for friends and family too.

Just stating my point of view.

I read the OP and I have not seen anything specific in it apart from the fact it was limited to a couple of items. This thread has spilled over into many other things and as the purveyor of such a thread, wouldn't you want it to be more general and all consuming?

Daniel wouldn't buy redwhite apparel because it's red, I posted the bidon because redwhite are making a yellow item for Daniel. Nothing to do with any reviewing, just a call to Daniel's yellowness.

General and more consuming? Carry on!

    Oh come on Bender...
Got some 6omm carbon clinchers from Bax Carbon on the way. Should be interesting to tell my beginners guide to TT story. Only 100g heavier than my 35mm Quattro so will be fun to see how much faster they are and how much slower they are, if at all, on hills.

You asked wouldn't you want it to be more general and all consuming. I replied carry on, as in carry on, make it so, please do, happy to. What am I missing?

I bought a load of the Rapha ones from the outlet when passing, also £4 because of that valve.

Fair enough. I thought I detected a hint of protectionism/sarcasm and i'll give you the benefit of the doubt

Then change the title of your thread. I think, in all honesty, we need a thread like this for all things cycling (if that's possible) because the reviews on the home page are often after short term use and I dare say, sponsored by those marketing the products. Sometimes, they have never been used by anyone. There are other factors too but going in to them would be pointless.

Nope, none intended whatsoever. Not my style. Not on this thread anyway :D

I'm not sure why I need to change the title mind. It's about my blog but generates a wider discussion of wider things. I'm not precious about the title but surely it's just as easy, if a "let's review kit thread" is needed that one is started?

With this thread and your blog, you're in the thick of it and best placed to move it up a level.

    Aha, i'm getting somewhere.

I was going to suggest - 'Benders'. You see? It has impact but i'll go with the above omitting 'the'.

I accept Paypal payments and Wiggle vouchers.

What thread's that from? If 100g makes you measurably slower up a hill then it's all in your head...

True enough, a lot of cash though for a water bottle

I have seen people selling them for £40 a pop.
It baffles me why they stopped producing just that one colour.

Pretty normal. I'm a large and am a large in Assos etc.

You and I size up quite similar and I'm a large in assos so maybe the large will be fine....

Large now ordered so fingers crossed they fit!

    they come yet?

No hopefully, today. They were posted Monday

They arrived yesterday. Haven't tried them on the bike yet, but the fit seems really good and medium would probably have been too small. Best feature seems to be the leg grippers, they definitely grip!

The care instructions says to steep them overnight in cold water. Any idea why?!
