I took delivery on Thursday evening and rode 40 miles on Friday afternoon, great first ten miles but just got really uncomfortable. Felt like the wife had swapped her cane for a cricket bat. Just awful. The bibs beautifully made but the pad is worse than any other bib I've had. Way short of the santini slice and no better, if not worse than, the economy dhb action bibs I paid a fiver for last autumn. I really hop they just need getting used to but otherwise not much fun on a long ride.
It's not the best pad ever but it does improve with age. I still rate it highly, just not as highly as the Parentini Shark.2 or RedWhite Race.
Hopefully I just need to break in my arris. I really can't afford to ditch the monolink ALU seatpost and perch at the moment. Unforgiving it may be but I can't find any more cash down the sofa until the summer is over.

I have one cheap if you want to try it.
I've got my old SLR xp saddle kicking around but I would need to splash out on a new post as I'm using monolink at the mo and have done for the past year or so. I'll put new post on my secret funding list.0 -
Excellent See Sense article - I am actually starting to prefer your non review articles - the cycling and the law entries in particular are an excellent and essential read ( I think you should offer this up to the likes of Cyclist and Cycling Plus for publication).0

I like writing those ones! I emailed rcuk ages ago as they offer freelance on their site. Not even the courtesy of a response. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Had a 30 mile test today of some new Pactimo Ascent Vector Pro bibs, numerous codes around for 30% so picked them up for £66.50.
Comfort wise the pad sits fairly forward to the front and I would say is about on a par with my DHB Aeron bibs. Quality of construction wise they appear a lot better than the DHB's especially the legs which are lovely and comfy. The quality of material seems better. Only a short test and only time will tell but so far so good. Thought some one might find it useful.

I've just ordered a second pair of the Pactimo Summit Raptor Pros. £140 retail price. They had £10 off for the Tour de France. 30% code used and then had £15 worth of loyalty points. Basically got them for half price so can't argue with that!
Was considering some Red Whites but couldn't say no to the Pactimo for that price.0 -

Going to give mine a try on Saturday0 -
Preparation time as the Autumn sale will soon be upon us. Boo! Yeah!
I need some bib shorts due to weight loss and am happy to buy half price Castelli Free Aeros if I am quick enough.
But I ponder. Taking value for money out of the equation what are the best, the Castellis, Redwhite, or Parentini?
Subjective and personal I know, so if it is close then I'll just stick with the Castellis. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
The Parentini are robust and comfy. The RedWhite are slick and really comfy. Both are, IMO, better than Free Aero etc as the pads are better and the fit, on me, is better.
The Shutt look pretty damn good as well.
It got me thinking. Of a draw full of shorts I'd say that the Assos Equipe might be my least go to. We've come a long way.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

My first ride (170Km) with the Red White Bibs, very comfortable, My previous best where the Assos T-Cento S7. Not enough time to come to a decision yet.0
-
I hocked my Cento while still mint and stuck with the Equipe. My Redwhite came yesterday but I test in order of arrival so it will be the Shutt Vr stuff tomorrow. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

I would like to try some, but I hate red with a passion.
I need a new brand, either GreenYellow, or BlackYellow and I'll be happy!Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

What is the sizing like on DHB Aeron Bibs?
Flicked through a few pages but couldn't see anything - I'm 5"11, 73kg, 32in waist and medium in Casteli.0 -
I'm in large at 35, 80kg 5ft 10My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Im 6" and 75Kg and got the Medium Aerons. Love them to bits. Much nicer than Castelli.0
-
Yeah, really gone off Castelli recently. Free Aero bibs are comfy but the quality of those and a recent jersey is shocking. Been using the jersey since May and it looks like its been used for years, bobbled patches all over.0

How does the redwhite bibshorts size up BTR? After my earlier post I just got emailed a 15% code for AlwaysRiding so went to order them and medium is out of stock which I think I am (32" waist)0

You and I size up quite similar and I'm a large in assos so maybe the large will be fine....
Large now ordered so fingers crossed they fit!0 -
Personally, I love my Santini bibs so have never considered anything else. Prendas (great company) did an offer on plain black bibs, £60. Very comfy.
Pair of Santini's for £50?

This isn't the value thread that's £11 mind. Par for the course pretty much. I'd not buy one unless there was postage but I guess that's the point. People will buy some bibs, chuck in the bidons, get them postage free. As it were.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)
