Aw, shucks - thank you. I try.

New cables went on this evening - well, part on as I then discovered that I need the funny ferrules that are smaller one on end than the other(thank you Monty Dog for providing the link) so everything is partially on.

    More piccies to follow shortly.

The bike or the stump of seatpost?
I must confess I'm not a big fan of the wheels, loving the rest of it though. TLW, you should get some of those wheels for the Masters. That would really upset Piña.

Found some matching Ti colored cages in The Big Box but not sure if they look as nice as Elite retro ones (these are plain standard Blackburn ones) and as we all know, it's the small things that make the difference.

May order some retro Elite ones down in the Chrimbly sales and if there is no difference then send them back or keep them and tell TDV that I have sent them back.

About to tape on front tub. Ooohhhh, the excitement. It's all too much.

    Update:

Going with Elite cages - Ti look ones don't look good enough. Will get secret order in next week for two.

Anyone have any idea what size ferrule I need for the mech/stay mount? Standard step down too big......

Bike sans brakes, chain and tape but with Dura Ace rear cassette, so until I get going with the pillar drill on the Shimano/Campy hybrid job: 8.92kg, so 9.70 when finished?

Then chuck on lighter saddle, Record brakes, crankset and mechs in due course - sub 9/high 8s?

Wheels rock: 1.19 wheel, tub, tape and Ti/carbon skewer for front, 1.46 rear inc tub, tape, Ti/carbon skewer and Dura Ace cassette.

Good isn't it? 7 pages, about a million views and still going strong.

Carry on like this and it'll be like War and Peace, only less Russian and more bicycle orientated.

May well take you up on the offer - many thanks. Let me scratch my arse and I'll drop a line.

Latest on the brakes is that my mule should be making a delivery when he flies in on 23rd, hopefully new ferrules that fit will have turned up by then. Ooohhhh, how exciting.

And for my 2,000th post I thought I had better bump this back to the top where it belongs, unlike my football team who are so abysmal it's funny/painful.

Congrats mate. I just clocked 15k and i'm just about to wave to Pross as I cruise by. Then I will gun Stevo down, tap him on the head and tickle him on the tummy (he might be too shell shocked to notice and the draught might mess his Bromley Coiffure up).

Thank you! And as we can see from this post, there has been no extra activity due to ferrules not yet turning up but my post count has increased, so at least I'm a winner there.

    Ciao

    Ferrules fit perfectly :)
    Cables on
    Tape on
Slave brakes on (Chorus are still on their way, so just a pair of Ultegras so I could cables to approx. length - have left a bit of length on there just in case I need different lengths for the Chorus - far easier to trim down than add on is what I say.).

It looks freakin' amazin'. Even my brother said so, so it must be true.

Piccies to follow, so hold on in there.

Chain will be ordered 15th January, cassette beginning of Feb then off we go. Whoooooooooosh goes Dirk.

'Ave it in your face. Dirk has arrived. Ish.

Please excuse the rubbish camera phone piccie. More to follow when its sunny and/or brakes & catena arrive.

Yes, cables will be trimmed down. Saddle probably needs levelling as well. Tyres to be pumped up. But apart from that, its nearly ready to go.

Bars to be rotated down a smidge so I am not riding a Chopper/Bomber.

Quick wash and polish over the next couple of days should keep me busy as well.

Mismatched cages will also be sorted in January - jeff bag one to be replaced by another Elite to match the current one.

I thought that Italians had intrinsic style?!

We do - it's in the picture above. In real life, it's so lush as the sun glints off the pearlescent white paint onto the lime green onto to be sucked up by the unfathomable darkness of the carbon.

The patina of age mixing with the intrinsic hand made craftsmanship of the lovingly welded and formed steel tubing giving you a feeling of human joy within a machine - deus ex machina - feelings that can be only formed, mounded, tempered by those who dare to exceed the norm, break away from the sordid catalogue of Chain Reaction, Cervelo and Primi Sport and Cycle shop.

It is form and function perfectly melded into a finely tuned machine.

It is a work of art that is also a weapon.

It is to be savoured and appreciated.

    It is Dirk.

It's going to glint with no bits on it.

    The patina of age

Wait a minute - I thought it glinted?

mixing with the intrinsic hand made craftsmanship of the lovingly welded and formed steel tubing giving you a feeling of human joy within a machine

Your joy has fallen into the downtube?!

    - deus ex machina - feelings that can be only formed, mounded, tempered by those who dare to exceed the norm,

Easy tiger, you have chucked bits on it in a manner similar to chucking your undies in the washing machine.

break away from the sordid catalogue of Chain Reaction, Cervelo and Primi Sport and Cycle shop.

The box of bits in the shed and ebay?

It is form and function perfectly melded into a finely tuned machine.

    Erm...

It is a work of art that is also a weapon.

It is a work of art assembled by a weapon. :D

It is to be savoured and appreciated.

    It needs help.

    It is Dirk.

I think it is an 'Eddy' (of sorts).
