    Goodo.

Firstly, don't forget I'm just a bloke on the internet, so if there is an expert near you ask for another (probably better) opinion.
Stem still doesn't up or down though, even with no bung or bolt in - any ideas?
Is there any rotational movement? if there is thats a promising start.
Re seat post - seat post top in vice and use bike as leverage just resulted in vice being ripped off the bench. Next stop remove b/, penetrating fluid in from below and let soak for a few days?

Yes, that sounds like a good idea, definitely try that. However, if the seat post is still stuck that fast, it may have to be the nuclear option.

No dramas - you have my assurance that when it shatters into a thousand pieces all that will happen is that there will be a Gallic shrug of the shoulders in the garage then I'll just have a glass of wine before sending the cables back to Merlin for a refund and chucking the remains over the fence into next door's garden.

Absolutely no movement at all - p/fluid has been in all evening but Park Tools recommend a can of pop (acid/alkaline kinda stuff). Will give this a bash overnight and see what happens. Shame to waste a can of pop though ........

Otherwise I'll get the seat post done and see how it rides with the stem as is before opening a can of ass whuppings on it.......

Local shop down the road is a bit of a retro specialist so will go and sound him out - if the cut of his jib sounds good I'll let him have a bash.

If all goes wrong I'll just get the seat post reamed out - not a big job and will give a spot on finish.

    Watch this space :)

    Ciao

Sitting in the garage awaiting arrival of sooper sooper sooper penetrating spray for seat post & stem: 3 in 1 penetrating spray in the orange can did nothing at all - delivery out to these parts has been kyboshed by the weather.

Plan is to spray a load down the seat post, let it soak in then spray a load up the seat post by spraying it through bottle cages rivnuts and let that soak in. Once that's done start on the stem.

Will keep you informed ASAP - hopefully end of next week unless I get called away for a free holiday in the sun.

    Ciao

Record Ti rear mech has been sourced ready to go on - matches the shifters.

Question is, do I also go matching Record crank arms?

If you decide you must buy matching crank arms they will all be at the top end of the price range. Tell yourself you don't need them, then snap them up if you find them cheap.

Have already sourced them from shop bloke - will update re prices so you can all mock, however the fact that I can now use the Chorus cranks and mech on Bambina's TT bike saves money.

He's also got some lush Spinergy wheels hanging up - tempted to use my too small Cadex as barter material.....

But let's get the stem and seat post sorted first.

Problem is, I'm like a 6 year old child: I just go in and start dribbling over stuff. I'm gonna play it cool on this count though, mostly down to the fact that I have no money and can't buy them at the moment anyway ..........

I only popped into the shop to pick up Dirk as well. B'stard shop....

Have sacked off crank arms for wheels - wheels were needed anyhow, crank arms weren't and these were far cheaper than Chinarello carbons.

Rear mech can also stay Chorus until after Xmas now.

Right, let's get the bugger built up so it can sit on the wall all winter.

Seat post is still seized in frame despite penetrating oil over a number of days, frame as leverage, all normal stuff so post is getting cut out.

Stem the same but it's only an inch higher than I'd normally have it so will have to live with it. Bearings are perfect so no need to meddle.

Neither situation is perfect but have a replacement seat post in The Big Box of Bits so no dramas and stem will get sorted in due course.

Ritchey WCS 'post is now polished up, looking all retro 90s and ready to be slipped in all the way from behind to the satisfaction of all concerned. Was tempted to use an old EC90 full carbon post but without carbon bars that I refuse to use on Dirk it will look unbalanced and jack.

Let's just hope the passage is cleared effectively - naturally the 'post will be lubed up, but still, fingers crossed.

Unfortunately I actually have to do some work tomorrow so everything is on hold again. Buggeration.

'Ave it. Waddya say? Turns out the Vittoria is a hand made corsa job.

Matching second bottle cage has been sourced so will grab that next week. Just need to call my source for brakes as I've been too busy. Cables will go this weekend nonetheless as I may have some spare time.

Will also polish seat post more this weekend over beer. Or get the buffing tool and Dremel going to save wrist power for the masturbatorium.
