Shed loads - bearings all good, braking surfaces well nice, no delamination or unbonding of the carbon.

    Are you left handed?
I was looking into getting some of those cages as the bottle bosses on my frame seem too close together (ie fit bottle in one cage, bottle will only half go in the other) do you think they would work or do they take up the same space as normal ones?
  • Ciao

No - right handed but haven't had a problem with the cages.

Not sure if they will work on your bike - they are from Planet X so you could order some and then if they don't work just send them back. I think that they were something ridic like a fiver or so each.

PX also do those slightly smaller than normal cages (but have to be used with the slightly smaller than normal bottles that they also sell) that could solve your problem.

Could I be cheeky and ask if you would measure from the middle of the bottom hole to the bottom of the cage??
The problem on my frame is that the bosses are too low down (rather than the usual too high up on a dwarf frame)!
I know they are only a fiver but I have a garage full of bottles and cages
  • not cheeky at all - pleasure to help. I'm out at the moment so will do later tonight. I may even use my new mega tech skills and take a picture......

    Thank you kind Sir
  • Pictures taken - will post tomorrow after work.

    Measurements in the meantime are:

    Full length of cage: 6"
Gap between bottom mounting hole and end of cage: 1.8"

Think they would be even closer together than normal ones :-(
    Shame, cos they look great
  • Hmmm - maybe the smaller ones from PX then?

Do you mean the slim ones?
Think I may just have to cope with one bottle and get the holes moved when i get it resprayed
  • You could just get the holes moved now if that's going to work - one hole will be covered by the cage itself, plug both with a rubber plug of the same colour of the fame and no one will notice the original two holes.

At least it means that you can hydrate properly now.

    Thats an idea! Cheers
  • And don't let them blind you with science - it's a hole with a riv nut in it. Locate place you want hole. Mark point. Drill hole. Riv the riv nut in. Job jobbed.

  • Bump because Dirk does not need a passport or driving license or any of that other rubbish that is for sale at the top of this thread but you all need your daily fix of Dirk.

It's like krocodil to the plastic Taiwan bicycle riding massives. They need it. The desire it. They want it.
