I watched the women's but missed the men's. there still appears to be no advantage to running discs so if not providing any advantage in cross I can't see any need on the road.0

Could it be this trick of running round a pole while sliding the bike round on it's side,collecting Mud and leaves in the rear mech. ??

Yes, hit a pole, rear mech gone. Although he's also simply not riding well. He blaimed the unseasonal heat. It was his last ever Koppenbergcross (well, any cross is his last ever, but that's how it's presented in the Flemish media)

I thought he rode pretty well yesterday. He had a shocking start and then fought his way back up to the front and faded in the last 2 or 3 laps. Yes I take your point. Brilliant display of bike handling by the Italian there. Poor old Harris continually stuffing it into the barrier on that descent. It looked like a real white knuckle ride!0
