1st round of the World Cup today in Las Vegas (or tomorrow morning if I've understood the times correctly). Almost missed it, have to set the alarm, could watch it before I go to work!

cr*p - this is going to be a long winter isn't it.
Glad there are so many younger riders coming through - looking forward to this cross season0 -
Any link?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

Should be coverage on the UCI You Tube channel. I picked up it was on from Cyclingfans, various links on there.0

Does that include the series points?0 -
Hmm, doesn't seem that early to me. Maybe because I'm up pretty early during the week anyway. But you can watch it back on reply on the UCI You Tube channel if you want.0

Good long interview with Nys in Velonews yesterday, worth a read"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Greased - Can you put a spoiler alert in the title?
Bit odd to have the race on a Wednesday night but hey ho.
Wout Van Aert took his first senior victory, while Nys came second. Aside from Nys, men's cross seems to be all about the young 'uns now.
In the women's race Katerina Nash won ahead of Lechner and Kant.0 -

Looked cool under the spotlights.
And berms looked good as well.

Great photos
Good to see Sven in some form for the start of his last year. Hopefully he can carry it through.0 -

Re: His Divorce
A colleague of mine's grandmother lives in Baal on the same street as Nys former mother in law (I know, we're like that). She wonders how a nice boy like that got mixed up with such a sour faced harridan (her words!). You would not, as they say in Glasgow, want to take a broken pay packet back to her."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
@gietvangent0 -
Her english is great! I had to google harridan
To be clear, I've never met his grandmother. I have only my colleagues word that he has translated accurately."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Anyone else find the main commentator a bit annoying? Maybe it's always that, and I just can't understand the Flemish. The ex-racer knew what he was talking about, but the other guy kept coming up with silly phrases, like the "fight for second place" (30 mins into the men's race, when Sven and Wout were doing anything but fighting), and repeatedly saying the reason you have to go hard off the start is to avoid getting caught in crashes.Pannier, 120rpm.0 -

love these French exhibition races - can't see any of SKY getting dirty on a public circuit
It's part of the culture - a bit like a charity cricket match

a couple of year ago Wiggins was in Guernsey to release his Opus and there were plans to close the seafront and for him along with whoever wanted to ride along it en masse but it didn't happen as apparently sky blocked it incase he crashed, personally i think he just cba to do it and used that as an excuse but who knows?
In the end we just had a shorter circuit crit with a few laps mass participation while he sat in the bar0 -
Childish post. Sky riders go an ride on the Track at Revolution Series'or the like which given that Track is significantly more of a big deal with the GB public makes a lot more sense if you think about it without blinkers onWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

After all the BBC know Ziltch about any other cycle racing, so the public are fed on Olympics or TDF.
The USA were like that still, in the early part of this century when they only had their own Homemade Sports to call World Champions.Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -

it wasn't the criticism it seemed (and not childish !)- more that these grass root events are part of French cycling culture -0 -
