I think some do it to make.. FF fit in, really.
My Man is just a bit of fun and a gentle piss-take of FF (like the horses were a couple of tours ago). The implied ownership of riders and associated kudos and bragging rights when they do anything of note, the deliberate over-exaggeration of their worth ("My Man [neo-pro x] fetching bottles with panache there, showing real souplesse!")... It's all parody to detoxify the fan-boy culture.

Two Welshmen, G with my mate and former club mate Ben Jenkins who was a decent Juvenile / Junior rider in his day. Saw him driving a Sky Jag in my home town a few months back and shortly afterwards saw a Tinkoff team car. Wondered what was going on but it turns out another local is a soigneur at Tinkoff and they both happened to be out and about!0 -
