Stage 16 TdF 2015 Bourg-de-Peage - Gap *SPOILERS*

Renshaw butting someone was obviously a deliberate action on his part. Unless you think Barguil intended to hit G then they're not comparable. Intent is the important thing here. Anyone can make a mistake, if you deliberately try to injure or impede another rider then that makes punishment much more appropriate.
I think someone should have a quiet word with Barguil about potentially being a bit more prudent when in close proximity to others, but this looks like misjudgement rather than anything else.
I'm glad G is OK.0 -
Barguil himself was knocked off balance, which is why he was cornering on that crazy line. Glad no-one got killed there. The question is, who hit Barguil? I didn’t catch it.

(still think Barguil should be kicked out?)

At the entrance to the corner he is no where near TJ, so if he did come together with him it was further way and he had time to adjust for the corner. It's a guilty man looking to move the blame on to someone else.
We both know the rules of cycling are interpreted on a case by case basis (see the Giro), Barguill move was dangerous and imo he should be removed from the race. If Renshaw and the head butts is removable this is just as dangerous, and he should be gone.
You're completely right about intent. I still think it was dangerous and he should go, he's gained GC time and G has lost time. Here's a longer version which shows he didn't touch TJ near that corner. http://cyclocosm.tumblr.com/post/124581311881/for-those-of-you-outside-the-uk-this-is-a-pretty0 -
Moto cam of Sagan descending! - the corner at 2:07 is terrifying
Those spectators really don't care to get hurt with someone overshooting!
That 2:07 corner is Beloki corner.
The right hander with the spectators where he overcooks it.0 -
Tinkov wants his team to be subsidised from TV rights. Reckons Sagan is the best rider in the race, better than Froome overall.
You can't lose a 2 up sprint to Greg Van Avermaert and claim to be the best rider on the race."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Rai3 in Italy giving more air time to silly journalists questioning whether Froome's cadence is normal.
Froome has blood tests after every stage doesn't he? Why aren't the results announced as clean daily?'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0 -

It really does all just smack of petty nationalist bitterness, which is a shame.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Eh? What are they getting at? With the right gearing anyone can have a high cadence. It's in cyclists best interest to spin up, rather than mash the pedals and tire your legs out. Learnt this in week 1 of cycling."The Prince of Wales is now the King of France" - Calton Kirby0 -

The likes of Robert Millar always turned much larger gears. There is some logic behind it. Armstrong made a big deal out of cadence.
Personally, I think it is like the length running stride - a personal matter.0 -

Glad Thomas is ok. Would be nice if he got his glasses back. The guy in the black shorts might have em.0

Armstrong popularised the whole high cadence thing. It is less efficient than mashing gears as you are moving the mass of the legs around faster with the internal resistance of the muscles, it helps not to have too much fat in the muscles slowing them down. It takes quite a bit of training to do it efficiently.
On the famous Ventoux attack Froome is at 120 rpm and putting out 640 watts - for about 10 seconds. 120 isn't a mutant performance.BASI Nordic Ski Instructor

Barguil can clearly see riders turning well before he turns so not as if he didnt know there was a corner coming. Clearly looks abnormal.
Barguil is my man and a thoroughly nice guy plus exciting rider.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Froome has blood tests after every stage doesn't he? Why aren't the results announced as clean daily?
Blood? No. Urine? Yes. Blood tests are rare on races AFAIK. They might get blood taken on a rest day test or a separate test outside the actual racing. UCI or National Federation can request bloodworm done at any time. Post-stage testing is limited to urine. (Probably something to do with the 3-hour window of non activity required for blood tests!)
And everything is sent off to various labs for testing anyway. Can takes weeks before results come back, although we've seen some pretty fast positives for some stuff (like Paolini's coke).0 -
Headfirst into a pole and down a ditch then only lose 38 secs. Quite amazing.Contador is the Greatest0
-
I doubt there is a mechanism for doing so but G should be reinstated the lost 38 s and Barguil docked Gs time loss0
-
Just seen the last 20k or so. What the f*ck was Barguil thinking? Even an amateur wouldn't try and take that line into a corner.
That could have been really nasty. Thank goodness there are no major injuries.0 -
Mistakes happen, but then to not even give a backwards glance to the innocent guy you've just knocked off the side of the mountain shows a distinct lack of class IMHO.0

You'd think human nature would take over and at the very least you'd give a quick glance. Maybe they just see so many crashes they become immune.0
