TJ is a loser and has minus panache and personality so I would take that with a pinch of salt. This is a race so you are not supposed to stay behind the person in front. Barguil ame past, TJ knocked him, he lost contact with his breaks and the rest you know.Contador is the Greatest0

Thanks for all your messages guys! All good with me luckily!! Wrong place wrong time I guess...
Still think there's a big risk of waking up tomorrow with whiplash. Usually doesn't appear for some hours. Makes riding (and in particularly looking round) very unpleasant.
Wont be a problem, bit of tramadol will sort that out.

He looks like he's done a massive amount of something in his shorts in that pic.0 -
(Which is incidentally exactly what all this "my man" stuff is that's going on this year).0

Sagan number 2 again....0 -
After Warren Barguil took out our Geraint Thomas, I'm going to boycott Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo out of protest.

In the post race interview Sagan described the Tinkoff-Saxo pre-race warm up as something like this...

So funny! Did it with all the interviews post race, haha!

Overstating it there... it just shows he's a normal person with a sense of humour.0 -
not buying barguils story there.. good no real harm was done"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. Watching the highlights, for the kilometre before the corner, TJVG and Barguil were rubbing shoulders and exchanging places.
Then TJVG has tried to come past Gesink to take him on the inside and has nudged Barguil. He overshoots the bend a little bit himself, delaying Gesink Contador and (to some extent) Poels in the process.0 -
Can't recall a better descender than Sagan. I really can't. Absolutely incredible.0

Two things from Vive le Velo tonight. (so far watching on rec)
1) Sporza commentator pegged Barguil would crash before he got anyway near the bend.
2) The slo mo look that Quintana (yes and actual facial expression) gave Barguil at the finish line was priceless.

Didn't the guys in the "Old Days" have to use a low cadence simply because their lowest gear was something like a 39*23?
He had a visibly higher cadence than Ullrich, but I think Ullrich was the exception not the rule.
In the Old Days, Cadence was called Twiddling and early season TT's could be limited to 72 inch gears. (48x18)
We only had 10 gears and the front changer could only handle limited ratios, so a 48/42 was a popular chainwheel and then as the front changer became more efficient then the ratios improved.
Most clubmen rode a Fix gear in the winter and commuting, mine was 61.7 inches 48 (again)x21 in winter.
I remember in a North London club (I had joined) they met at Shepherds Bush for a February training run to Oxford and they all had gear shift freewheels. Then as they descended a hill called Stokenchurch they let it rip into a chaingang and I could hear them say "he's still here, Go, Go, Go" but at the bottom I was still there, twiddling along.
I am trying to remember the Pro's that used Cadence climbing when Armstrong was born as it's not new.
Anquetil perhaps.
Oh, bye the bye, Indurain could power a big gear in a TT (like Boardman) but he used cadence on a mountain but to a lower rate than armstrong who was lower than this Mountain Biker phenomenon in yellow at present.Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720 -

Richard Virenque, Paolo Savoldelli to name but two that would leave him behind.

Rai3 in Italy giving more air time to silly journalists questioning whether Froome's cadence is normal.
Froome has blood tests after every stage doesn't he? Why aren't the results announced as clean daily?0 -
Sagan is certainly a brave descender! Nearly came a cropper twice. Heck of a job from Pantano to almost stay with him - Sagan just way too powerful on the exits.
Hushovd is maybe the best I've seen. Not that we got to see him do it a whole bunch.0 -
Savoldelli was the best ever, Sagan will have to go a long way to catch up to him.
The video of him descending the Motirolo in 2006 is amazing0 -
Sure, Savoldelli was amazing. Doped to his eyeballs as well.
The way Sagan just dropped Pantano, who is no bad descender, was ridiculous.0 -

Barguil can clearly see riders turning well before he turns so not as if he didnt know there was a corner coming. Clearly looks abnormal.
Barguil is my man and a thoroughly nice guy plus exciting rider.
In this case why on earth was he on the inside of three riders approaching a tight bend? He had no chance to make it and unclipped before he got anywhere near G. Tyring to blame TJ is ridiculous.0 -
With most of the rest of you on WB. Tries to dive bomb the corner and Cocks it up. Lesson learnt and no harm done so no biggie this time. Glad Gee is ok. He's a good guy
Starting to feel super sorry for Sagan now. He's one if the few people in the race who.is. properly trying to race! We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Try telling that to the old French guys I ended up watching with. I've never heard so many ooh lah lahs and seen so much hand shaking every time he cut a corner fine or ended up over cooking a corner.0 -
I agree, also how does a bit of a touch knock your hand off the brake lever when you are approaching a corner at that speed. I think he tried to go up the inside and got bumped when he tried to move across and TVG refused to run wide to make room for him which basically left him committed to a tight line he couldn't make at that speed.
Just watching the ITV highlights didn't realise the winner almost binned it on the descent too.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -

King Kelly on the Poggio in 1992 was pretty special. He wasn't exactly in the first flushes of youth either, just really hungry for the win.
Still, Sagan was not too shaby today, in fairness.
