Stage 16 TdF 2015 Bourg-de-Peage - Gap *SPOILERS*

I doubt there is a mechanism for doing so but G should be reinstated the lost 38 s and Barguil docked Gs time loss
Accidents happen.
Cycling's fundamentally unfair.
It'd be rubbish if it wasn't.0 -
No ITV video for me.
Anyhow, don't know if this is on it, but:Quote of the day from @GeraintThomas86 "They'll probably ask me my name in a few minutes." TV: Do you know it? "Yeah it's Chris Froome"
..."Science is a tool for cheaters". An anonymous French PE teacher.0 -
Glad to see G is OK. Hopefully the French fans will redeem themselves and return G's glasses to him (not soaked in urine, mind).
It looks like "Bowling Ball" Barguil was undertaking TJvG on the approach to the corner, who in turn and at the very last minute, decided to undertake another rider (Quintana?). The move by TJvG meant Bowling Ball's line into the corner tightened up drastically and he simply couldn't scrub off the speed he was carrying into the turn. Bowling Ball was a passenger on that particular Giant by the time he hit G. If G wasn't in his way, BB was heading off the edge of that hill Wiley Coyote-style.
BB's hot entry into the corner was the main cause for this coming-together with TJvG's late undertaking manoeuvre a contributing factor (for which he (TJvG) is not really responsible). That is the crown's case, m'lud!

Armstrong popularised the whole high cadence thing.
Didn't the guys in the "Old Days" have to use a low cadence simply because their lowest gear was something like a 39*23? Achieving a high cadence on those sorts of gears would result in going far faster than could be sustained for long periods.
Lance made a lot of the "high cadence", but was his actually much higher than everyone else's? Like most things with Lance, it was probably a bit of a smokescreen, like route reccying whilst Ullrich was in bed and training in bad weather.
He had a visibly higher cadence than Ullrich, but I think Ullrich was the exception not the rule.0 -
Vid showing the lead up to the Thomas crash, can actually see some contact with TJ and Barguil here, from about 10secs

Thanks. Very clearly shows Barguil's hand come off further to the TJ shove. So those calling him out and a liar can suck on their jingoism.Contador is the Greatest0

Somebody who owns those oakleys in that colour should courier them out to him asap as they're bound to look a dick in them and he actually narrowly gets away with it!0 -

.
I'm sure you are right. It was one of Lance's marginal gains though, like being on his bike 7 hours a day (was he moonlighting as a NYC courier or something, no wonder he only got time off for the TdF)

I always assumed part of the switch to high-cadence was related to (not a result of, or the cause of) the change in doping methods. Up to the 80s it was all amphetamines and steroids and shit so grinding made sense, then come the 90s when oxygen vector doping took over so spinning made sense.Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0 -

Great racing today! I really enjoyed that a lot.
Sagan is rapidly becoming 'My Man' No.2 - a real character and just incredibly talented on the bike.
A special shout out to Geraint Thomas - what a warrior.0 -
In the post race interview Sagan described the Tinkoff-Saxo pre-race warm up as something like this...

Exactly right. The move to high cadence removed a lot of strain on the muscular system from low cadence pedalling and instead placed it on the cardiovascular system. Because of EPO use, the extra capacity the body then had to absorb and use oxygen resulted in the massive performance gains we saw in the past.0 -
Aww they haven't shown it on Eurosport
ITV highlights guaranteed.
Pretends to be as concussed as Murdo Mcleod who was playing for Brazil for 20 minutes after taking one in the face.
This deserves a nod of acknowledgement. Say "Murdo Mcleod" to me and I am immediately transported back to that game. Especially the blistering header that he tried to put into the back of his own net.Top Ten finisher - PTP Tour of Britain 20160 -

OTIT was Murdo MacLeod's lifetime ambition to play against Brazil - 21 years later he still can't remember a single thing about it....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

Still think there's a big risk of waking up tomorrow with whiplash. Usually doesn't appear for some hours. Makes riding (and in particularly looking round) very unpleasant.0 -

Looks like Barguil was trying to overtake TJ.
TJ says:
“Warren was trying to come over the top of me, and I was trying to hold my position at the front to stay safe.
It was a matter of who brakes the latest, and he was just willing to take big risks. He took out Geraint Thomas, and he almost took out himself.”0
