FF, I'd just love to know what comments you would be making if Barguil had done that to "your man (hero)" Contador and taken him out of the race and badly injured him. Would Barguil still be such a great chap? I doubt it. You write the script to suit yourself as always.

Pleeeeease make this "my man" stuff stop. Do we have to put up with it all the time now year on year? PTP is fair enough but this my man stuff is böllocks.
Barguil was riding badly yesterday, no question to anyone with a pair of eyes. Sagan's descending was nothing special at all, committed to the point of overcooking it, but nothing special.

Apart from the fact G is one of my men.
I'd suggest that "your man = Contador". Your men = numerous others".
But answer the question. If Barguil had hospitalised Contador with, perhaps, life threatening injuries would you still be so defensive of Barguil. Because have no doubts, that lunatic bit of riding by Barguil could have resulted in that result very easily.

Talking of rollers that descent into Gap nearly claimed another rider yesterday, when Geraint Thomas crashed and it showed him hitting his head it was that shocking I lost concentration and rode off the edge of mine, only just managed to get a foot out in time as those Keo blades are flipping tight !

There's an awful lot of people with a my man squad, and it's been going on for quite a long time, so I suspect you may have to be a bit more tolerant.

The whole my man none sense sounds far too footbally for my liking but it does explain some of the irrational brainless posts by some people.

I know that pain. I have a safety chair next to my rollers which is not exactly very macho.
Love you guys commenting on how you think Barguil can descend after the fact.
Well here is a fact for you, when descending the Tourmalet Barguil made up a minute or so gap on the GC group after he got dropped not long before the top of the climb.
He is only 23 and currently top 10 in the TdF, 8th in the Vuelta, 8th in Strade Bianche and has two GT wins to his name. All this while on a small team dedicated to sprinters. His dad also died when he was younger which is a large part of his inspiration when attacking up the mountains. The guy is simply wonderful, a massive talent, has more panache then the whole Sky team (full, not just Tour team) combined and provides a lot of entertainment for the fans. I don't think Porte or Froome even knew pro cycling existed at his age.
Only to lose 32 seconds to the GC group again on the following Cat 3 climb to Cauterets, some talent.
Yet again another great French hope like Pinot and Peraud, no doubt destined to be the next Bernard Hinault.
If by panache you mean the inability to judge the road and control his bicycle then yes, he has that in spades. Doesn't hold a candle to the likes of Geraint Thomas, Richie Porte and Peter Kennaugh though, and definitely not anywhere near the same league as Chris Froome (and never will be).
No not funny, It's just he lives in his own little Dream World looking at pictures.
Then makes things up as he goes along.
The OP in January said pick your 9 man team but he picks a shovel full.
Therefore I'm as sick of it as you are because he ruined it.
Just for your information, 'my man' is something I used long before the thread starter thought it would be a good idea to get teams together. There is no reason I have to subscribe to a number. They are termed as such because they are riders I take a special liking to and interest in. My capacity for that is not limited to 9.

We're getting there. A synthesis remains possible.

Disappointed!
