On the subject of VO2 max tests isn't there some young Norwegian cyclist that has the all time record for any person - not far off a 100 whatever it is per kg - be interesting to see how his career goes. Plus why are the VO2 max records dominated by Norwegians - if you want your kids to be pro cyclists maybe find yourself a Norwegian wife/husband.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

I think a lot of the high tests are Norwegian because they measure it and talk about it the most.Twitter: @RichN950 -

The irony of Jalabert, Rasmussen casting suspicion on Froome, Sky and the likes of Virenque hailed as a celebrity in France.0

We need to hear more voices like this.

Kimmage particularly irks me in this case. Froome interacted with him, was transparent and open, in a world where most people won't get near Kimmage with a barge pole. And Kimmage continues to say things, Froome corrects him and he acts all reasonable and then carries on playing to his audience.
He's obviously painted himself into a corner where he can't admit he might be wrong.
Kimmage made a telling comment around the time of the disappearance of the Kimmage defence fund, something along the lines of "I had hoped to be able to make a living out of cycling, but I guess that won't happen"
everything he says now just strikes me as a desparate attempt to remain relevant0 -

It is, but very heartening all at the same time. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -

Clearly it takes more than a high VO2 max to be a good cyclist. Anyway, a lot of the high numbers are from the EPO era, when Nordic countries were full of doped skiers.

More information about French TV experts' claim that Froome's estimated peak power output of 7.04 w/kg was abnormal, by comparison Thibaut Pinot's PPO, as measured and disclosed in his brother's thesis, is 7.3 W/kg
Do we know over what period of time he can sustain that?Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -

Just for context:
These charts are often used for power output based on rider category (created by Andrew Coggan for Trainingpeaks).

Apologies if this has been raised elsewhere but has anyone questioned Sagan's performances? He was in two day long breaks over tough terrain and still managed to contest a sprint finish. Add to that the French double standards of insinuation and innuendo over Froome and Sky's performances, which amounts to one very good day, where they are happy to use the words of a rider who went from bunch sprint and green jersey winner to KoM and top 10 GC rider and who fails to admit doping despite retrospective testing finding EPO in his samples. Rather than throw p*ss in his face though they named a climb after him :roll:0

The fact that people are turning this into a nationalistic battle is pathetic by the way.0 -
