TdF 2015 Stage 10 Tarbes to Pierre-Saint-Martin **SPOILERS**

Tremendous ride by TWENTY TWO year old Yates. Absolutely stunning. Barguil did a superb ride as well especially given he crashed hard.
Contador in rested form wouldn't have taken time out of Froome today I don't think but he would definitely be less than a minute down. He couldn't even climb out the saddle much today due to all the lactic acid, something you know is completely foreign to Contador. I really hope he can find his in form legs and make a real go for it.
Aggressive riding from Froome which needs to be commended I suppose despite the huge kick in the balls in terms of Sky's form compared to the entire field, completely and utterly different level for their three guys to finish like that, especially as G could easily have dropped those he was with.
Really hoping Froome has a regular day and an off-day so that I can restore some credibility in my head.
G would be second on GC right now had he not been working for totally for Froome today and on the Muur stage.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Slightly disappointed by Konig and Poels today though.
I believe I predicted that Sky may use a sort of squad rotation system with the different riders used on different stages. I think Konig will be to the fore over the Tourmalet tomorrow.Twitter: @RichN950 -

Froome's average speed up that mountain was faster than the times set by:
Hamilton, 2003 Millar, Virenque, Riis, Ullrich, Rominger, Indurain, Piepoli, Salvodelli, Chiappucci, Boogerd
Illustrious list.
Interesting. Since it's the first time it's been used as a finish is it fair to assume they weren't drilling it the other times? I don't know I haven't watched them so can you help us out here?0 -
Sorry to bring context back into things.... Was it my imagination, or was that some beautiful fresh, clean smooth tarmac they rode up?
Movistar gave Sky a free ride for half the climb, Contador and Nibali confirmed suspicions of the first week that they didn't have it this year, got dropped when Movistar were still on the front (of about 20 odd riders). Sky were gifted the climb, pretty much. Cranked it up until only Porte, Quintana and Froome left, then Froome took 1 minute from the second best climber in the peloton.
No big deal.
When did 6.09 W/KG become the new 6.7 W/KG?Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

In 1996, the summit was 150k from the finish
In 2003, the summit was 130k from the finish
In 2006, the summit was 90k from the finish
It's typical internet 'science'. Ignoring all context.
As I said earlier, in 2003 Tyler Hamilton rode up it at the same speed as Quintana today. He then rode another 130km, mostly solo, including another similar climb at a similar rate. It was in week three and he had a broken collarbone.Twitter: @RichN950 -

I actually hadn't noticed Gesink hang on for 4th. That's a heck of a ride from him.0

There are some route profiles higher up in this particular topic that make the point pretty well - generally there has been a lot of racing to come when they've hit it previously, and it's unlikely anyone was going flat out.0 -

I still maintain that Hamilton's performance in that Tour is one of the most staggering things I've seen in any sport. Even knowing that it was entirely doped - and industrially so - can't quite erode my disbelief.0 -

I had a similar thought at around the point Valverde first attacked - but then I ride up in Yorkshire, so everything's smooth in comparison...0 -

To be fair, the Danish commentators pointed it out to me. Whole climb was resurfaced recently.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
Well, because in 2013 he beat Froome by around a minute if you don’t count the climbs where he was riding as a domestique for Valverde. That was in his first Tour.Last year he won the Giro before crashing in the Vuelta and this year he beat Contador by around a minute in the queen stage of Tirreno before concentrating on the Tour. I personally rate him very highly as a pure climber and he’s only going to get better.
Aside from all that, Quintana isn't immune from fluctuations in form like everyone else. If he's not quite 100% or had a bad day today, is it so hard to believe he's going to drop time? Again, not disputing his credentials as an excellent pure climber, but the gap between him and someone like an in-form Froome is simply not wide enough that he can be below par and still expect to outperform them.0 -

So under what circumstances do those who disagree with you get their apology?
well its impossible to prove i was wrong until either time itself ends or I suddenly find that 20 years of cynicism are washed away with a tsunami sized wave of suspension of disbelief and coupled with a desperate need to believe.
Should either of these things happen and i have an epiphany I shall make this my first port of call
The moral low ground? Nice one!
Do you believe Merckx + Hinault won due to doping? If not, why not?
Err he was doping with "paniagua"
I don't understand what you mean. Do you think Hinault was doping? Do you believe Merckx was doping?0 -

Cycling's David Icke sums it up: 90% certainty that Froome is doping. Fabulous.

Guess who was his pick to win the Tour ?

i thought the epic testosterone rage of Floyd Landis was pretty cool too. in fact the bit where he looked like he was going to punch his mechanic was a classic0 -

A few people on twitter may be arguing Froome is suspect but I'm not convinced they are really setting the agenda amongst cycling fans in general to the extent they seem to do so on here.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0
