Froome's average speed up that mountain was faster than the times set by:
Hamilton, 2003 Millar, Virenque, Riis, Ullrich, Rominger, Indurain, Piepoli, Salvodelli, Chiappucci, Boogerd
Illustrious list.
But this is context and should be ignored if it doesn't suit your agenda.

The times are from several climbs. 2003 next to Millar so we know it was the doped Millar.Contador is the Greatest0

Tell what is much more criminal - not ranking Col de Bagarguy HC.
Absolutely destroyed me that did.0 -
Nah, everyone on twitter knows that every climb is ridden at maximum pace, otherwise you might miss out on some Strava KOMs.You live and learn. At any rate, you live0

What a ride from Gesink! Early solo attack, eventually reeled in by the leaders but still held on to 4th place, well ahead of some big contenders. While the Sky dominance did look ridiculous, that performance just shows how sub par many of the riders were today....0

The howls of outrage would be deafening... if Vayer hadn't released the Ventoux Files last night. It must be a false flag operation.
Ever since Evans won in 2011, the reigning Tour champ has had a stinker the following year. GTs are too hard....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

Ah, so you're just taking many years with no context rather than just the one.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -
Froome beats Pantani's time by over 2 minutes.
What was the stage like that Pantani's time was taken from?
- What was the stage length?
- What other climbs were there?
- How attacking was the racing leading up to the climb?
- At what point in the race did it come?
- What was the weather like?
Context, or it's all bullshit
I suppose you could put it another way:
'Out of sorts Quintana still beats Pantani's time'. But that doesn't sound so dramatic and damning does it!
Quintana wasn't out of sorts, he is still yet to prove that he is the very best. He may well become the very best but he hasn't done it yet.
Contador is clearly not recovered, Nibali is shockingly poor.
In context Gallopin, not a renowned climber managed to stay in there, Valverde, Gesink, G and Porte too.
I wonder whether we have seen the impact of the threat of nighttime testing today.0 -

One question to organisers of TdF: if it's suspense you wanted why put hardest single climb of Tour into first mountain stage?Contador is the Greatest0 -

Incredible.

Well I'm amazed how poor Contador was today, but shocked at how little Nibali seemed to be trying. When he was holding back Fuglsang and Scarponi he was hardly blowing and you could see their frustration. For Fuglsang to say what he said about Nibali at the end is damning stuff. Vino will be spitting mad, I would think...0

The amount of blocked posters is telling. TT among them. Not wasting my time reading any of their BS.Contador is the Greatest0

Nibali. Sad to see.
I said I didn't think Contador was in great form in the Giro. Landa convincingly out climbed him over the 3 weeks, and would have won it had Astana committed to him. Today Contador was out climbed by the the likes of Yates, Gallopin, and Geraint Thomas. Maybe he has a really high peak coming at some point.0 -

In 2006 it was only 90km from the finish

and... track riders usually make great climbers, just saying.0 -
You have too many men FF, is there a website or something where we can check?
There's a thread.0 -

That's a bit like comparing Bolt with Farah. Both run on the track. That's the only similarity.
If Hoy was riding like this you'd have a point. Pursuit riders have the engines to climb once the track weight is off.Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.0 -
