TdF 2015 - Stage 3 Anvers - Huy *SPOILERS*

Gutted.
That Metz stage crash you're referring to goat was described by the Dutch press as 'oorlog'.
That was worse.
There was that great clip of Hoogerland who, in the process of braking to avoid the crash had burst his rear tyre.
There's a shot of him bouncing up and down, waving his rear wheel in the air asking for a tyre as mechanics armed to the teeth with wheels and other team cars fly into the background into the pile of bodies, road rash and mangled bikes.0 -
This really could be the end of Cancellara's career.
I really do hope not. He deserves to end it on better terms than this. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -
Fabian's back again
Bless him
Was he dropped?
google apostrophes, use of :P
So, I've done that, but I still don't know if you were you writing a shortened form of "Fabian is back again", or remarking on a repeat injury to the back of Fabian?
José Been @TourDeJose
ABANDON Fabian Cancellara. Broken vertebrae. #TDF
This was another moment where medical sense should ve prevailed
Edit-
Fabian cancellara @f_cancellara
Just left the hospital with a huge disappointment #TDF2015 is over broke some bones on my back again as in spring. #L3/L4right side
Sh1t, carrying on in that condition.0 -

The crash in data - from within @DimensionData truck. Average speed during fall was 42.03 km/h.
I've revisited this and actually bothered to analyse it and is incredible. You can really see the moment(s) (because they are moments as the data is individualised so you can really visualise the domino effect going on) of crash for countless riders and in one instance someone seriously speeds up only to rejoin the peloton unscathed.Correlation is not causation.0 -
Another exciting stage. Strike 1 to Froome, not many people attack that far out on the Mur and hang on for 2nd.
That crash could have been even worse if it happened a few metres later and riders had hit that massive lighting column at full speed.
Good to see the forum schizophrenics in full flow though. Bemoaning the organisers for stopping the race then criticising riders for getting back into race mode as soon as they are allowed.
^As Pross said. They did the right thing given the fact that the medical teams were all otherwise engaged on some pretty awful injuries.
Get well soon everyone who was badly injured especially Bonnet's neck. Ouch.0 -
We may never see Cancellara in the Tour again. He says next year will be his last and his summer focus will be the Olympics.
He came From Switzerland, young and flabby. A patron of the peleton chained and sworn. They named him for a frenchman though his family were Italian. A dozen young pretenders came and went during his years of service but he was always there to crush them. He beat belgians as well. He could have been King of Flanders were it not for his nemesis, the one they call Tommeke. He had the power of the Spartan but now his back has given out. He was Fabain Cancellara, we may never see his like again...
And now his watch is endedWe're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Agreed. I hope Patrick Lefevere is regretting his bellend-ish tweeting this evening. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -
If you haven't seen it. Footage from the Crash aftermath. The Orica mechanic was wearing a go pro.

Although, near the end I was left wondering why Orica have a mechanic who seemingly can't speak English.Twitter: @RichN950 -

And yes, also nicely illustrates the advantage of team car order in a day like tomorrow0 -
While we're on commentary, I was listening to Phil and Paul today and thinking that Carlton isn't so bad after all.
yeah I dont if ITV edited in all the lowpoints from Phil today on the highlights, but the dont worry none of those riders in yellow is Cancellera, they are Lotto Jumbo riders, cut to shot of Cancellera standing up, ok thats Cancellera then, and then Paul saw it but Phil completely missed Froomys elbow. I know they are staring at tiny screens in a tv truck its not the easiest thing to spot whats happening
whilst Carlton in comparison was waxing lyrical about boar stews and identifiying cows in fields again. I do reckon though he drinks too much coffee as he was exceedingly hyper by the time they got to the final 8kms0 -
Has Kirby started channelling Duffers?! Might be worth a listen, that."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

What is it that a lot of riders have mounted under their saddle?0

On this clip @1.05 you see the first crash, and then @ 1.18 you see the second crash Prudy was talking about.

A "transponder thingy" is the technical term you're looking for0 -

Pinot talking in post race interviews about being shaken by seeing Bonnet going down the way he did. Probably doesn't bode well for him tomorrow if he's nervous like that.Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0

Thomas is riding a great race. Hope he gets a chance tomorrow. But not as much as I'd like a Tony Martin yellow jersey. Classy interview post-stage.
Only Morabito working for him at that point - although Roy was there - when the front group accelerated it was all over - then he must have struggled on the climb . He's better in the high mountains - still seems inadequate in terms of critical positioning - although did much better at Romandie and Switzerland.
At his age (25) Froome was only mediocre in GT's but Contador did the Giro/Vuelta double
Got to remember he is still valid in the white jersey competition!
Must be a huge effect from a slower start to the climb without the leadout. I was just surprised at the large loss in such a short distance for a top guy....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0
