Valverde got 3rd and he was there to help Nairo predominantly. He has done 63 race days this year compared to Contador's 65. So he also came in not rested at all like box fresh Froome. Pretty unlikely he could win though - that would make him the second oldest winner (1922, 36 years 4 months).
I suppose it's true what he says also about Spanish young riders. I struggle to name any. Contador and Valverde have been racing since 2002 and JRod since 2000. Joaquim is 36, Valverde 35 and Contador 32.Contador is the Greatest0 -
