To go all FF for a sec, but the Gruber Two are taking some stunning photos at the moment. And they're hanging with the MTN team a fair bit which is even better in my books!0 -
If anyone's watching the stage on Monday, look out for some of my Exeter Wheeler friends. Probably will be on Col de Cabre. I only get there Tuesday night.
Thé stage looks like it'll be warm: current forecast is 37C. I wouldn't want to ride for four hours at max effort through that.0 -
I think this Tour has been enlightening with the trends it is showing:
It tells me:
- That the 2015 Giro field was very light
- Contador won against this light field and against better riders is now being shown where his form is (Hesjedal was able to climb with Contador at the Giro)
- In the weak Giro field Astana's riding and performance was not as exceptional as it originally looked
- Nibali did not deserve a favourite tag for this years Tour. He is still easily ridering better than those who finished 2nd-4th but that is looking like a light tour after Froome and Contador crashed out.
I know you cannot make exact comparisons and there are lots of unknown variables (illness, etc) but the trends are there0 -
A bit ancient history now, but some shots of the team presentation in Utrecht. Hope they're of some interest.

Magic, cheers. Great to see pros signing autographs with a smile....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -
Latest copy of Procycling plopped through the door today - which will bring relief in more ways than one: the pained expression on Nibali's face on the previous edition was making for an uncomfortable "sit-down" in the rest room over the last couple of days…0

GoPro footage. Not that great but crash at 1.01 or so and sprint at 1.53 is worth a look.

Oleg saying TdF alone makes 80m euros.
Not hard to see how that needs to start going to fund the cycling teams.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Is Oleg a socialist? ASO make money, teams get advertising exposure (see recent Cycling Podcast Kilometre 0) - And they get 85% of that during the TdF.
Inrng did a breakdown of what they could in theory get out of ASO and it wasn't worth the bother really.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Oleg is a most benevolent capitalist. He put his best asset to work in a lower yield field for a while to make it fair for everybody else....a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0

The first sentence is unintentionally well worded. The tour makes a large profit, but is likely the only ASO race that does. Much of the money is used to subsidise other races.Team My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0 -

That can't be real. It's a photoshop job surely. Otherwise that is the most amazing coincidence I have ever witnessed.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Fan mail:
“The most popular is Valverde with 123 letters, second is Rui Costa, even if he’s abandoned, and third is [Alberto] Contador (Tinkoff-Saxo), fourth is Chris Froome (Team Sky) and fifth is [Jean-Christophe] Péraud (Ag2R La Mondiale),” Sylvain Fourre of Docapost told Cyclingnews.
