BREXIT - Is This Really Still Rumbling On? 😴

Better than not doing them. Of course, trade deals with countries where none existed before will be more of a win.surrey_commuter said:
but a rolled over trade deal can not be celebrated as a benefit of Brexit.Jezyboy said:
To be fair originally there was lots of chat around how difficult even rollovers would be to achieve. So I think it's only right they get a degree of credit for them.surrey_commuter said:
I thought it was 65 and 63 were rolled over. That would suggest that making the rollovers bespoke so that there is an improvement will take decadesStevo_666 said:

The deal with the EU has had some issues that didn't seem fully understood even by those who signed it before it was implemented. Any that are simply rolled over probably won't.0

My concern is the same as it was in my previous answers. It a concern of oversight. If one of your lackeys came into the office saying they had signed a deal worth £18bn would you be cheering or would you ask to look at it? And then ask a team of lawyers to look at it?Stevo_666 said:

You'd also take into consideration who had made the deal / who is communicating that the deal is done.
I'd trust a deal made my Arthur Daley over most of the shower of (proven) lying cnuts we have in Government.0 -
Based on what I know, these sort of deals get a fair amount of scrutiny during the process rather than being left to a junior negotiator to deal with on their own.darkhairedlord said:

I think the EU deal is worth including...
Japan wasn't a rollover IIRC. But not sure about which were simple rollovers as the info isn't presented in that way in what I have seen."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -

Japan is not counted as a rollover but I think Liz Truss finally admitted that there are no benefits to the new deal. I think the main problem is that written into the EU deal was that they had the best terms so anything Japan gave us they would have to give the EU. I do not see us ending up with the same terms (or slightly worse) as a failure but we are not better off.0
