Had a word or two with one of the bods on the Schwalbe stand at the bike show yesterday and he said that the next batch of Ones would be here next month.
    Ridley Helium SL (Dura-Ace/Wheelsmith Aero-dimpled 45 wheels)

Light Blue Robinson(105 +lots of Hope)

Planet X XLS 1X10(105/XTR/Miche/TRP Spyre SLC brakes

    Graham Weigh 105/Ultegra
  • Tested the Sector today... 70 Km 70 PSI front and 75 rear. Nice tyres, roll well... went on no problem, sealed quickly... that's what tubeless is about, really

TBH all the tubeless road tyres I have tried are very good, the only thing is the Schwalbe cut and puncture way too easily, hence I rate them one step below the competitors

  • Might have to look at the Hutchinson Fusion 5 in 25mm variant as I ideally need a set for very early March and I have given up hope on getting the Schwalbe Pro One's in 25c by then. Other option would be to get the 23c but really would prefer the 25's
  • Ordered some Schwalbe G-One 35c yesterday. Coming tomorrow. £68 the pair from Wiggle including DPD (price matched Bike 24).

Would be rude not to go back to tubeless.

It would be rude, but for a 35 mm you don't need an expensive tubeless tyre. Anything under 60 PSI and you can use any clincher. I have converted many Vittoria and they all work fine

I have been very happy with Vittoria XN for that task...

Too thin. Wanted something more balloony for battle on the beach etc. Would have gone 40c if the XLS would have taken it.

  • Is the Effeto Caffelatex stuff better than Stans?

  • Fitted the Hutch Sector to my HED + rims... easy to fit, yet easy to pump up with a track pump, needed sealant to stop leaking air, they seem to have sealed nicely as soon as I added the Stans and gave them a spin. will check them tomorrow

Hi Paolo, quick question if I may on the HED rims running tubeless. I have the Adrennes + LT which are wider than average rims & have tried endlessly to mount Schwalbe 1 Tubeless (25mm) but without any luck as just cannot get them to seal so was wondering if you have any tips?

I use Stans valves & tape, loads of soapy water but just cannot get that initial blast of air to get the tyre to seat, even tried compressor, track pump, CO2 inflator etc. so just given up & now use them with latex tubes!

Sounds like you need more tape... I have used the 25 on those rims no problem. Don't be afraid of using 3 layers of tape. Make sure the valve is fully inside the tyre when you inflate and the all tyre is sitting in the channel of the rim.

Thanks Paolo, will give them some more tape & see I how I get on. I wonder if it may be the valve as well as the base of the Stans one is round so I think the tyre bead struggles to sit over that and still sit inside the channel on the rim if that make sense? I know there are some tubeless valves that have the base that is more rectangular so would sit in line with the channel of the rim if you know what I mean?
  • Valves are often blamed, but rarely to be blamed. I am using valves cut out from old inner tubes, but I have also used round based and square ones... they generally do their job

Care to sell me the other? They are impossible to find in the UK and I don't want to have courier deliveries

Got it! Flip me, the squeezy liquid really does help! That's saved me a C02 cannister or 4

    I got mine from Bike24 Ugo - http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;p ... 00,4,22,35 *

Weeman has made me paranoid about them rolling off the rim now though

Edit *obviously doesnt help you there though

I know I can buy them from Germany and france, but they use couriers and I can't be bothered with them. Wiggle and CRC use Royal mail, which is simpler to deal with

Just a hassle with cards, redeliveries, parcels left with others but no cards left, confusion etc... The postman just leaves it in front of my door and happy days

Good stuff, they look lovely. I can't ride them yet as the bike they re for is just a frame, wheels and stem at the mo

I reckon the S-One's wold have fitted in the frame on those wide rims though...

Just wondered if anyone has used the bontrager flash floor pump or the new joeblow booster for seating their tubeless tyres. I need to buy a new floor pump and am tempted by one of these to use with my tubeless tyres. I'm tempted by the joeblow.

I made one as per the instructions and it didn't work very well, so I bought an Airshot, which although it's a bit pricey (I had a discount code and got some Quidco cashback which softened the blow a bit) works brilliantly and seated my Sector 28s beautifully.

I havent used one of the pressurized pumps but I did try an MTB specific pump at a race and it did make a difference seating a tyre I couldn't get on with my normal track pump.

I really like the idea of an Airshot or similar though, most of the tubeless problems are just about pushing a lot of air quickly

  • Just fitted effetto tape to the pro lite revo wheels. It's interesting. Like stiff sellotape. Stuck the g ones on. Loosely fitted. Couple of gaps. Pumped and they shot straight on!

Lovely tyres aren't they, so comfortable and still pretty fast!

Did they fit ok on your Planet-X?

35's do. 38's would rub I reckon. Rear was a bit of a bugger to get on the rim. But once on, just worked.

I don't fancy swapping them for anything else though. Quite tight on there.
