Managed to finally get some time and descent mileage in this weekend, 175km ride to the coast. Got to say the bike performed flawlessly and the disc brakes were re-assuring as the way back the heavens opened and the road surfaces became a little dodgey!!

Does anyone know if mudguards can be fitted to the CDX disc ?

I think this would make a superb winter/wet day bike if that's possible:

I dont think there is any specific mounts but i suppose some of the third party mudguards may work.
  • My X-Lite CRS 3000.
I really like this bike. Only managed to do 250 miles on it so far. It's very agile and light. Money well spent.

    Cool. Hope it arrives intact.
  • No new Rose owners?
  • Just returned from 2 weeks riding mine in the south of France (Pyrenees-Orientales). Absolutely faultless (although did replace the brake pads - some of the descents are long and scary).

I pushed the button on a CDX 3100 Di2 a couple of weeks ago. Site showing order "being prepared for assembly" so given others experiences I recon I may have it in a couple of weeks (but given Parcelfarce antics these is no guarantee it will arrive in the condition it left the fatherland).

Must admit I'm getting exited (which is sad for an old sod like me).

Isn't there a saying "A person who is bored of getting a new bike is bored with life"?

    Something like that anyway.

Had mine for nearly a month now and managed 650 miles. Really starting to enjoy it. 130 mile Red kite Ride the day after it arrived took some shine off as it wasn't fitted properly.

    Well worth the money...
  • Have just pulled the trigger on a heavily modified Xeon CDX-3100 this afternoon.

Spoke to Fin who has confirmed that no stocks of the 2015 bike in my size so I will need to wait until Mid-Oct when they release their 2016 stuff before I can get any idea of build/delivery estimates.

Hopefully as I have ordered now they will honour the current price should the 2016 be more expensive...

    Can't see delivery before end-Nov :(

    But already excited :D

Just had my CDX 3100 Di2 delivered, looks lovely in the flesh. Only problem, they've put the front brake on the right when I specified for it to be on the left (my other bikes are all on the left). Waiting what they say but I don't want to send it back and wait another 4 weeks to get it sorted. Normally I'd just do it myself but seeing its hydraulic and I have not yet got a bleed kit and don't fancy re-wrapping the bars I'll see if I can get it done locally and they pay for it. Ho Hum

Did exactly the same with mine. Specifically selected front brake on the left - delivered fitted on the right. I don't have hydraulic (or discs) so will sort it when I next replace the bar tape.

Perhaps they assumed this was a mistake and therefore 'corrected it' without asking?

Can I ask why you guys choose to have your brakes that way round? When I got mine it was a showroom model and it came with euro brake orientation ie front brake on the left. I couldn't get used to it and kept on locking the back wheel up and skidding do swapped them over. Just normal cable do only took a few minutes to sort.

Front on the left gives a better cable run for rim brakes (shallower bend as its coming from the left), also looks a bit neater. Makes sod all difference with hydraulics, but as I'm used to it now I wanted to keep with what I know.

  • As I understand it, fitting the front brake to the left lever is 'universal' throughout Europe and it is only the UK that fits the other way round. No idea why but it does make a slightly less strained cable run as the cable from the left 'flows' straight to the calliper rather than having to come back on itself.

In practice I don't suppose it makes much difference, apart from familiarity with lever configuration.

  • Passed my payment details to Rose over the weekend...
Yesterday my expected production/delivery date changed 10 weeks...
Checked today (more out of hope than expectation) and now production/shipping in 1 WEEK!!

Have no doubt this will change substantially by the day/hour so am keeping it real... :-)

It's also neat in that the left lever controls front brakes and front mech and the right back brakes and rear mech.

And, if you cross the gear cables, you get a really, really neat front cabling.

I prefer left front braking but I can happily swap between left and right front.

Well Rose have been very good. After riding the CDX for a bit I've decided that rather than chop the hydraulics about I will swap the brakes on my other two bikes (cable) to match. Although its less neat they are now winter bikes so what the hell. Rose asked what I wanted to do, when I told them my decision they asked what bar tape I would need to re wrap my other bikes and have sent me two sets as compensation. Can't really say fairer than that, Yes it was their mistake but their customer after sales really is very good. Now I've got to decide what to spend all my Rose points on :) .

  • How many Rose points do you get for a new bike?

300 points for joining their VIP scheme, 2 for every pound spent. So about 5000. Each point is worth £0.01 so fifty quid in total to spend on their stuff. Delivery is £7 something so about £43 value which should get some bits and bobs.

  • Still loving my Rose but have had some real customer service issues recently.

Are they getting too big to operate skeletal in the UK?

Are they getting too big to operate skeletal in the UK?

    What have been the issues?

Not sure how many bikes a year that Rose sell in the UK, but you would have thought they would operate with a small premises somewhere... especially when you consider the premises in Germany.
  • No idea of the numbers but I did meet another rider out a week or so on his X-Lite. First time I've seen another Rose on the road here in the UK (or anywhere else).

I have emailed them a few times, Germany have sorted it.
  • For those of you who are concerned...

New bike has now been marked as shipped on Rose's website!
Now at the mercy of Parcelforce...

Well Rose were true to their word and sent me two packs of bar tape as promised. Once again I tracked it and DHL were great. Then the dreaded parcelforce took over. I was watching the tracking (and looking over my drive which I can see from my office). Then I noticed the package had been delivered and signed for by me. Interesting I thought, no van or delivery person has been within 50 yards of my house, and I certainly did not sign for it. As my parcel was addressed to a "Bill E*******" the signature they allegedly got was from a Mr B ******** rather than W for William which is how I would normally sign for things. A couple of hours later one of my neighbours turns up with my parcel which had been left under his barbecue. It had my address on it so I fired a snotogram off to Parcelforce. They sent what appears to be a standard letter stating that the driver had tried to deliver but no one was available so it had been left with a neighbour. Basically they are a lying bunch of scum. If my neighbour had not passed it on to me I bet I would have had a fun game proving it had not been delivered as it had been "signed" for. I wish Rose could use DHL door to door.

PS. Spud - Hope your delivery man is better behaved than this one was.

  • bbrap, thanks for the heads-up.

Bike is still currently in the safe hands of DHL at KOLN IFS, Parcelforce should be getting their grubby hands on it soon.

I'm getting it delivered to my work address and will double-check that there are no barbecues in the vicinity for them to try and slide it under (although would have to be a pretty large one to conceal a full bike)...
I'm hoping (vainly) that Parcelforce will treat it better as it is effectively a business-2-business delivery rather than business-2-consumer.

The anticipation is killing me (although I do appreciate that my lead-time has been a lot shorter than a number of you guys have experienced).

    Rose Xeon 3100 Di2 Disc,
    Changes so far,

Fizik Arione R5 & normal clamp (could not get on with the Selle Italia Kit Carbone monolink), Fizik saddle bag (reversed clip to put it further under the saddle), Fourier stem spacer junction box mount (to get rid of the ugly rubber band bracket).

Winter bike (I know it's not a Rose but I thought I'd add it anyhow for comparison)
