  • Not much decent riding weather in Cambridgeshire for a few weeks, so mainly been riding my CX bike.

Did treat the Rose to some new hoops.... Zipp 303's, with Beyond Black logos...

Could it get anymore black? I suppose I will have to change the seatpost, stem and handlebars for that to happen!!

  • Just pulled the trigger on a X-LIte CRS 3100. It took a lot of 'research', change of mind, doubt that this is the right investment, oscillating between Canyon and Rose, but I assume this is the typical process everyone is going througth.
Only dissapoitment is about waiting time. I find the info Rose is providing in their stores a bit misleading.
Product was 'green' and availability immediate, still, now the estimated delivery time is 5 weeks...and I know in the back of my mind that relevant factor in deciding Rose over Canyon was the waiting time.

Anyway... Overall, quite excited. Will post some photos when it will show up.

Only concern is about level of contort. Seen some reviews mentioning that it could be a harsh ride.
I own a CAAD10 - geometries are pretty similar, so hopefully not harsher than my caad.

Sounds a lot like myself! I've currently got a 2011 Synapse that has been great, upgraded the gruppo to Ultegra and wheels a couple of years ago enhanced it. She is looking tatty now tho and the lure of Di2 and new bike has reached critical mass

I've procrastinated for some time now about which bike and the Rose offer is simply outstanding IMO, although i'm currently leaning towards the X-lite Team rather than CRS for an extra £400. That might change yet tho! I have similar concerns about comfort but after pouring over the geometry charts it should be OK, proof will be in the pudding as they say.

The position i'm in at the moment is that I don't want the bike until mid to late March so I'm trying to hold off ordering whilst keeping fingers crossed the exchange rate holds and Rose don't review their prices upwards.

I'd check delivery if I were you. I ordered a Rose first week of March last year and it turned up in the last week of May...

    hi all
have been checking out the great info here about Rose bikes. i am very tempted as the prices are good and the bikes look great. My 10 yr old Planetx pro carbon is due for an update and i am doing the Maratona this summer.

A couple of questions: i am considering a ROSE XEON CDX-3100 or a 3000 but with some upgraded wheels (prices come out the same'ish). The 3000 with the DT SWISS RC 28 spline (or the Kysrium Pros are a bit cheaper) looks quite nice for climbing. Anyone upgrade their wheels? what does this do to the ride quality?

never used Di2. what do people think? have to choose between wheels or electronics :D

I so so SO want to but its a money thing. Long story short - I would be in a LOT of trouble with the other half if I was to commit £2500 to a bike right now. Should get the go ahead in a few weeks.

As they say, "You only live once", but maybe living would not describe what you would have to endure if you upset your significant other. It will be all the sweeter once you have had to wait. At least you have something great to look forward to. Might be worth wandering around looking like a sad puppy for a bit to get some sympathy :P

  • Credit card was charged. Status was updates to : goods are being prepared for assembly ... exctitement is building up, just wondering how long before I'll see it on the front door.
  • After several months of prevaricating I ordered a PRO DX Cross 3000 hydraulic on 6 January.

I was attracted by the idea of the "Gravel/Adventure/All Road" concept dreamt up by manufacturers' Marketing Departments but thought that a cyclocross bike would fit the bill just as well. Hydraulic disc brakes were an essential requirement, as I know from my MTB how good these are, and the Tektro rim brakes on my current winter bike can be scary on steep descents. This limited the available choice a good deal as most bikes in my price range come with cable or hybrid discs. Started looking at Rose and the Canyon Inflite as both offer a great spec for the money.

I intend to use this bike as a "cross-over", rather than a cyclocross racer, doing rides which are a mix of road, towpath, easy bridleways and disused railway line trails. It seems that both Rose and Canyon look at their Cross bikes this way as both have mudguard mounts and bosses for bottle cages.

After trawling through this forum and the limited number of online reviews, I decided to go with the Rose. A major factor was the well documented issues with delivery that Canyon are having, also the Bike Configurator that Rose offer meant that I could choose the gearing I wanted, rather than the 46/36 that is standard on the Inflite 9.0. The downside of the Configurator is that you can get carried away and add lots of extra cost. But I guess that is one of the reasons Rose offer this!

I was a bit nervous about the sizing - always prefer to try a bike for size and fit first. The Geometry spec did not give a value for standover height, an important factor for me as I have short legs and don't like crushed nuts. An e-mail to Udo came up with a value that should give a couple of centimetres clearance. Another concern is that, although the Reach is almost exactly the same as my summer road bike, the Stack is 19 mm less. Maybe this is due to a lower bottom bracket drop for cyclocross geometry?

Anyway, the day after placing the order I received a full acknowledgement with an assembly date of 1 February, next Monday. I got back home from a quick ride this morning to find an e-mail saying that the bike had just been despatched and shortly after, another e-mail with a DHL tracking number. Just keeping my fingers crossed Parcelforce are gentle with it when it gets to the UK.
  • Can anyone help with tracking info?
According the DHL tracking site my bike left Germany on Thursday and arrived in the UK on Friday. There are two packages showing on the same shipment number. I assume one is the bike and the other is the mudguards.
Today both packages are shown as being in Manchester (about 15 miles from home) but one has the status "Delivery of the shipment has been deferred at the customer's request" The other has "Scheduled for delivery as agreed" To confuse matters the "deferred" delivery has a graphic of a man carrying a packet to a house and the "agreed" delivery has a graphic of a parcel sitting on a conveyor belt.
I haven't been in touch with DHL or Parcelforce, so who is meant by "customer"? Is it me or Rose?
I tried tracking on the Parcelforce website but got an error message when I entered the DHL tracking number that Rose gave. This is a 10 digit number but according to PF their references are 9,13 or 14 characters.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can give.

Contact Parcelforce, the package is in their hands.
  • Well, my Rose PRO DX Cross-3000 arrived at 8.30 on Tuesday evening. After the confusing messages on the DHL tracking site on Monday, on Tuesday morning it was showing as out with the courier for delivery. I waited in all day, then at about 4.30 checked the website again to see the status had changed at 12.30 to "unable to deliver, recipient not at home". Phone call to DHL's Customer Service eventually determined that their driver (not Parcelforce) had attempted to deliver to the wrong address despite the correct address being on the paperwork. Instead of going to 83 XYZ Drive he had gone to 83 XYZ Road, about half a mile away.

Anyway here are a few pics out of the box (which had a big tear and a few minor dints but no damage to the bike).

Hope these pics turn out OK. My first attempt at posting images here.

This is in its winter tarmac guise with 28mm Conti 4 Seasons, the bottle cage was a freebie from Rose, along with a bottle (doesn't look right in translucent plastic) and an own brand Buff (better than Haribo!)

First impressions are that the build quality is excellent. The welds are really neat and it all looks well put together. The weight was 9.3kg (52cm size) as delivered, without pedals. Probably about 0.5kg of this is the mudguards.

Waiting for some dryish roads now so I can get out and bed the discs in.

Well that didn't seem to work. Anyone any ideas why - apart from me being a numpty? In the meantime here are some hyperlinks that might show the images

Looks a good solid bike. Mine came with damage to the box, too, but perfect contents.
    Enjoy!

Hi all. First post but been following these Rose threads a while. Just wondering if anyone's had or heard of any joy fitting a pannier rack to the Pro DX Cross 2000? From the 360° view on the website, it appears as though there's a screw on the underside of the crossbar between the seatstays that a centrally mounted rack could secure to. Anyone shed any light? I'm a firm answer away from ordering one... Cheers.

Hiya, I own one and can confirm that the bridge does have a screw hole on the underside. Just this week I've drilled a hole through a set of SKS guards so they can be mounted at the bottom bracket, on the bridge and the stays.

If you ask Rose nicely they will do you an upgrade on the stock wheels. For approx another 100 they will swap the stock for their own built up lightweight disk wheels. Rose 1850 is what is stamped on the rim. They roll really well when shod with 25mm Victoria corsa CX tyres.

Before I ordered my Pro DX Cross 3000 I sent Rose an e-mail about the mudguards. The reply also said that a rack could be fitted and the one they recommended was the Tubus Fly Evo. This is the link to their website page

The hole in the seat stay brace has been used for fitting the mudguards,so I'm sure it would work for a rack.To be sure, why don't you drop them an e-mail? Just click on the "Ask a Consultant" link on the bike page. I e-mailed them several times and always got a reply within 24 hours.

it was Dwars door Vlaanderen. Not totally sure but think they have invites to a couple of other classics/semi this season. Also what Alex said was the team
  • I checked out the Team Stolting website. They seem to be doing quite a few of the early Belgian races.

Just got Rose Xeon CDX 3100 a couple of days ago. Having a great time with it so far. fantastic bike! longest ride only 50k. Need to wait for the weekend to do something longer to fully test it out.

The bike looks really great. i went for the matt black and blue. 7.5kg on the bathroom scales but i did get some fancier wheels. Di2 is interesting not a game changer for me so far but the gears are very smooth.

Rides very nicely. Not that much smoother than my old PlanetX but a bit. I am 175 and got a 55cm frame which seems about right. getting a bike fit next week to make sure everything is in the right place.

Managed to knock 40s of my PB on my local climb on the way to work (Crow rd). Not bad :-) Not sure if that was just the bike or me being a bit overexcited. Made me feel that I had spent the money wisely though.

So, very happy with my new machine so far. Glad to be in the Rose club.

    175??? Now that's a real achievement!

Seriously, I'm 181cm and went for a 55cm, with a 120mm stem. No regrets. I too went for a bike fit about a week after delivery. A few tweaks but apart from a longer seatpost, no changes but my results were noticeably improved.

At 60yrs next birthday, I feel I'm riding better than I have for years and I stronger than ever.

I love riding my Rose CGF3100 and the more I use Di2, the more I never want to ride without it. The only change I might make in the coming months is new carbon bars - they do seem to take some buzz out of the road over 100Km+ rides, and perhaps some different wheels, although I have no real complaints about the DT Swiss Spline R23s.

    :-)

sometimes i feel that age after a hard ride!

i have a 90 cm stem and feels about right for my size. my old planetx was a 54cm but rose dont do that size for some reason.

i havent noticed any road buzz yet. will find out over the weekend on a longer ride. We have some rough roads around Glasgow and on my 50km the other day it was pretty good. Maybe the Di2 will grow on me. it seems fun to use but not a game changer. It is nice to be able to shift while applying power when climbing though.

Finally got out on a longer ride on my new bike. did 120k yesterday in the rain. Bike performed very well. Really happy with it. Disc brakes were excellent on the steep descents. They made some noise at the start of the ride but were quiet by the end. Hope that means they are fully bedded in now. They pull really strongly, like my MTB brakes. Way better than the 10yr old 105 brakes on my old bike which are a bit scary in the wet.

gear changes were nice and smooth all the way. the di2 never faltered. installed the d-fly widget so i can see my gears on the garmin :-) Just stuck it inside the frame so i didnt have any more cables on the outside of the bike. worked fine.

changed a few of the bolts to be black too. seat post bolt was silver and looked out of place on the black frame. also changed the bottle cage bolts to be black. well, i want it to look cool :D

the only issue i have is that the brakes came from the factory with too much lever throw. The levers pull right back to the bars so trap fingers if you are not careful. I checked the adjuster under the rubber hood and they are set to the minimum throw so they cant be adjusted any more. I emailed rose about this but maybe i will have to bleed and reset them to try and reduce the throw. Not a massive issue but means i cant get the best out of the brakes.

My mate had this on his CDX. Once the brakes had been bled they were fine.

Does Rose X-LITE TEAM size 50 have place for two bottle cages? Anyone have a pic for that frame and size?
