I think you are right! :( Thanks for the update, Is there a reason Fin has been on strike?

Not looking good for a weekend ride!

Maybe Fin is not awake, like me :)

I thought the weather was looking OK for the weekend. I hope so, but will readily blame DHL/Parcelforce if I can't get out on my new bike!

Mine's also stuck at Koln IFS - no movement for the last 4 days.
  • After mine was received by and processed by the national hub I suppose it was about 24-48 hours to delivery.

    Nice ride. Photos will follow.

I take it you haven't seen the damage, looks like it might just be muck. But you need to me insisting Rose supply new parts for any that are even slightly damaged. I'm sure they will. This seems to be getting more common, both my Rose boxes arrived perfect but there seems to be a few recent instances of them being damaged in transit. The main blame obviously is with the parcel company, DHL or Parcel force but perhaps Rose need to consider extra padding in their boxes.

The bike is Rose's responsibility during shipment; damage during shipment is becoming a feature in this thread and they need to sort out their couriers. I'm sure they will make good any damage on items delivered damaged. My box had three holes in it(luckily missing the bike) but others aren't being so fortunate. I furnished Fin with photos of the damaged box & he said he would be submitting a claim against Parcer Farce; heard nothing since. Suspect PF's staff don't care so all customers with damaged boxes should annotate DAMAGED when they sign for delivery. Haven't noticed any complaints re damaged boxes in other internet suppliers' threads, I wonder if use different couriers...

Following on from my earlier post Ive checked the bike thoroughly and bar the slight damage to the hoods everything else is absolutely fine, The only other issue I found is there Firmware was no up to date on the Di2 system but this didnt take long to sort out.

Heres a few images, Sorry they arent very scenic by the time Id got home built up bike and updated Di2 it was getting late and all i wanted to do is go for a quick ride despite the fact it was chucking it down!

Im a keen mountain biker and recently moved into the road scene too I have TRP HYRD on my other bike and while I feel they for me are better than rim brakes the full hydraulics on the Xeon CDX feel so much more natural the modulation and confidence it brings in crappy weather.

Well I went and did a quick 20 miler just to test it out and it rode like a dream feels so much better for climbing (52-36 and 11-32) then had a nice time trial section to push through the gears.

It was all going so well... Then 15 mile in I thought "steering feels tight.." then realised the front tire was going down managed to find a cut caused by glass.
Checked tire and stuck in a new tube but only lasted another mile or so, Im pretty surprised as I run Conti GP 4000S II on my other bike and its going strong for nearly 4000 miles and no puncture I knew the day would come but the way the tire has slit makes me wonder if these are cheap rubber compared to the retail edition?
GP 4000S II are my tire of choice but do I need to look at something else, or order another GP 4000S II? (I`ll patch this one up for now but I dont like riding anything thats had a real slice through it).

Anyway I have to say again the bike rides like a dream, I know not every is of the disc opinion but for me its a no brainer I ride all year regardless of weather and I like the re-assurance the disc brings in late breaking and a more overall spread of braking. And the UK roads certainly arent getting any better

The damage issue has me worried about my bike which is on its way.

    Hope it arrives intact.

No problem in regards to damage I emailed Fin yesterday afternoon and mentioned the damage he just asked for a full inspection and to photo any damage and they will organise so replacements for the damaged items.
Thankfully for me it's just the hoods with very light damage, now just to source a new tire :(

Mine arrived today - box and more importantly bike immaculate with no damage whatsoever. Unfortunately It's going to be a few days before I get to ride it properly.

Arran is great for cycling, some brilliant mtb tracks. Road surfaces could be better for road bikes but the scenery more than compensates.

Quick glad to say I tried another quick ride after work (25miler) and no punctures this time! I let Rose know about the damage to tire from the first ride and have agreed to swap the tire which I'm very happy about.

Apologies from the saddle bag but I cant fit everything in my jersey pockets!!

    Hi Guys

My CGF-3000 arrived today. My excitement after unpacking it was quelled by the sight of the frame finish... In many places on the frameset are the streaky/patchy blemishes you can see. It is on the dark areas, the blue appears to be fine. I hope this is not normal?! I've contact Fin by email so hopefully a response will come through tomorrow. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? I'll be gutted if they cannot send me a better finished frame because it's a beautiful bike but their website now states out of stock!

I think you'll find that finish is quite normal. I'm assuming it is the Matt UD finish?

    Regards

I can also confirm that the finish is completely normal.

I rushed to send mine back because I didn't think I could live with it, I had exactly the same colour as you, I think it looks worse because it's Matt, the shiny UD looks a bit better. That said I wished I had given it a few days to see if it grew on me, it's a little Marmite and I now love Marmite. Obviously you can't ride it but take it outside in the sun, see what it looks like, something in January I couldn't do.

Snappygear & plodder73- thanks for the replies.

Yes it's UD Carbon- Matt. I've looked into painting it and Carbon Cycle Repairs, who Rose say are their approved specialists, are near to me. That makes the decision a bit easier. An extra £200 to throw down but I end up with a painted frame of my own design. I'm convincing myself it's worth it...!
  • The UD carbon shows under the glossy finish too. It's growing on me.

Not sure I would want to paint it, even with the option of a totally custom paint job.

That is drastic painting it. You will have to paint the whole thing therefore you will lose all the original Rose graphics. Can't think that if you ever sell it on it will help resale value. If you can't live with it send it back. The only CGF they do that is painted is the white one.

Iv'e got the CDX-3000 Shiny UD Carbon Black/Red and love it, bits of carbon show through; the bike's made of carbon, why not show what you paid for? The more I ride the bike, the happier I am.

Only a week??? What have you ordered?

    Order 28/04/2015
    Dispatched 26/06/2015
    Delivered 06/07/2015

    Seemed like an eternity.

When are you away? Where are you going to? South of France & foothills (Pyrenees) is my favourite riding holiday destination, though I am planning on Provence/Alps as an alternative later in the year (September).

Interesting stuff guys. Any more feedback on claimed weights v actual weights would be really appreciated, especially for any owners of the ROSE X-LITE TEAM series. A lot of posters here might not interested but it seems there is quite a difference between claimed and actual weights. Cheers.

My 57cm X-lite Team is 6.65kg without pedals vs the claimed weight of 6.4kg. I think the lighter wheels (Mavic R-SYS SLR) and heavier saddle (Selle SMP Dynamic) pretty much balance each other out. The weight quoted on the Rose site is based on compact cranks and presumably a short stem, so maybe that accounts for 50g or so.

It's very enjoyable to ride, so I can't say I'm too bothered by that extra 250g.

How much fluid do you need for a 25miler?

You should ditch the saddle bag (and some fluid) and get a tool bottle

We are going to Palau-del-Vidre, Languedoc-Roussillon late August for a couple of weeks .
I've ordered an X-lite Team 3100 but with Zipp 60 wheels for my Felt AR frame and I'll put my C24's on the Rose.

Just weighed my x-lite crs 3000 (red and black) = 6.95kg
Changed standard spec to 25mm tyres and the Xtreme Gel-Comfort bar tape, both of which may have added a little fat to the bike.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Good to hear that the weights are pretty much accurate. Making ordering one even more tempting. If only the X-Lite Team was availabe in that lovely shiny black with red decals paint scheme.
