    Sad way to go.
The race is looking a bit thin on challengers, now.

What a cruel sport. This is a complete and utter disaster.

He crashed... badly. Some rumours his frame snapped but nobody knows for sure.

Bloody hell. I have goose-pimples watching this. Bloody hell.

He is getting off and into the car. Must have been some fall.

Poor guy was consoled by his team mate before he got off.

The photographers taking photos through the window. I know it's their job but just do one, give the guy some space and respect.

    Absolutely gutted!

Really gutted to see Froome and Contador abandon before we even got to the mountains. It's been a fabulous first week of racing but seeing these two guys go out in crashes is pretty awful. :(

Abandons, weeping. Feeling desperately sad for him, tbh.

Me too. I was really looking forward to a classic battle with Nibali. I hope he's OK. It must have been some crash to force him to abandon.

Er, no, it's just sport you know. Things happen. That's all. Many global DISASTERS - a few cyclists really don't cut it.

    Okay, kharma is real.

I'm sorry for people who like Contador or like him in the race, but not really for Contador himself, and I don't think he's too hurt, he kept riding for miles (too hurt to continue maybe, but not truly hurt).

Now we have got a good tour on our hands. Cmon Kwiat, you looked out of it, but today might put you back in amongst it.

Inrng has the translation that Berties bike was broken in two - it could have been a snapped frame or a bad crash that snapped the frame. 5h1t happens but who would have thought this.

    Shame

Really wanted Nibali to win - but not like this.

Can't help but feel sorry for Nibali as well, not the way he'd want to win if he does go on to do so.

Not a fan of Bertie but fook it, he is now gone too. Not good for Contador, Le Tour or the eventual winner.

Gutted. Guess it's Nibbles for the taking now, though mentally it will have an asterisk beside it for the eventual winner.
