How did Contador damage right knee and left hip in same crash?

No footage of the crash but if the frame gave way perhaps a bad roll across the road

J-Rod drops TV rather easily. He's only standing for the cameras now

Meanwhile, the Tony train is still pulling the break. There go Purito and Tommy for the points, Purito best again.

So that's two crashes this Tour that we know off due to some sort of frame related failure.

What a disaster TdF this is so far.

And this situation with Kwiatek is ruining everything. Astana have the perfect excuse to ride which they are now doing in force. Even if Contador regains a reasonable amount of time, the showdown will be muted. Lets just hope he can recover with tomorrow's rest day and the injury's are superficial.

I cannot believe it is frame failure.

    OK scrap that, who knows?

    the Inner Ring ‏@inrng 1m

French TV reported Contador's bike broke in two but note "son vélo, c'est cassé en deux" not same as "son vélo s'est cassé en deux"

    Has he scuffed those shoes?

    Just make a tea.

    Must do some work.

    This is gripping though...

    Who was the other?

Some bloke from Movistar with a stem/steerer failure just after Froome's crash on Stage 4.

If those injuries are superficial it is not good he took so long to get back on his bike.

Good to see Machado is back riding.

Some fella in the background of the aftermath of Froome's stage 4 crash, looked like the steerer broke.

I think he was very shaken up. Hopefully it was just adrenalin and wobbly legs and nothing serious, like his back or hip.

It's only early in the stage really, so there's plenty of time for your husband to get back on and write a great story for himself.

If AC crashed then why are Astana on the front drilling the pace? Surely they should be gentleman and wait for him to catch up. Thought it was an unwritten rule in the peloton?

I haven't seen the crash so don't actually know what happened.

Kwia is up the road and is a GC threat, so they're free to chase him

If (and a big IF) it is frame failure makes a mockery of the big deal Specialized were making about Chinese copies being dangerous.
