Porte doing an early job on the front today.
Back in 2012 at the Tour of Romandie when Froome was short of form they had him riding on the front for long periods too

Dang. Watched the stage last night, never seen so much wheelsucking from Contador.

It was the right thing to do and it looks like his form is in the right place, but surely Frenchie this unacceptable behaviour?

I'm all about Sergeant Wilco these days.

Okay, here's the deal with yesterday's 'wheelsucking' from Contador..

Froome didn't invite for anyone to take the front. He wanted to that solely on his own - and it worked out for him. If he wanted anyone, including Alberto, to take the front he should have opted for a different approach in attacking. Froome hasn't criticised anyone for lack of initiative afterwards, has he?

Also, wheelsucking, as a term, is the most stupid thing ever to have existed. But that's a different discussion.. (especially in a discussion about Contador, like him or not.)

No doubt it'll give him a little confidence boost that he's helping the team too. While he doesn't yet look like Porte of the last few years, he also doesn't look like the Porte that tried to ride Catalunya or Romandie either. He'll be fine.

I don't think Contador was in the same league as Gerrans or Valverde yesterday (In terms of wheelsucking). To be fair he looked like he was just trying to hang on to Froome rather than wheelsuck (Which he did pretty well to be fair)

He looks a lot closer to Froome in terms of form than he did last year. I hope they both remain on a level pegging for the tour as the battle will be awesome. Last year when Froome tried one of those spin class attacks he left Contador behind, this year he stuck with him.

Shame Quintana isn't riding, Valverde won't be able to hang with those two and I think Quintana is one of the only ones who could mix it up at this moment in time.

Voigt goes on something of a predictable attack.

Quintana is racing the Vuelta as is Contador, Valverde, Rodriguez, Nibali, Hesjedal, and a good few other top riders.

they were talking about this on the cycling podcast the other day, it's a shame you don't get one grand tour a year which ALL the top guys ride. As it is at the moment it seems the choice is either The Giro and the Vuelta as a pair or the Tour on it's own.

(I know there are guys that have ridden all three but it's rare the GC guys will)

It would be disappointing if he didn't, it's kind of his "thing" :-)
