What an horrendous run in for a sprint.0

I watched Stage 2 on the way home today. Great racing. I was really pleased to see how AC did, nothing between him and CF. It was clear they were both at the limit. Bodes well for the TdF.0

Just seen stage 2 too, and that was a very promising last few kms. More of that over the weekend please. Contador in so much better shape during the Dauphine than in previous years.
Kelderman is going to be good, isn't he.0 -

The reason, small hip fracture from Romandie:

This. Heart in mouth stuff in the last 1.6km. That chicane and then the roadworks narrowing were ridiculous. Did someone let the Giro organisers loose on the stage? Incredible that there wasn't a pile up.
Kind of looks fine to me. Maybe the adrenaline of watching it live made it seem worse. Two corners which were able to be taken at speed and the last one had a wide clearance.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Stage 4 is a classic. Descent into gap...ASO love this one. It can produce some very exciting solo wins.
Was used last year in TdF where Rui Costa solo'd in for the win.

13 riders in the lead
A breakaway is gone at km 21 with: Andriy Grivko (Astana), Christian Meier (Orica-GreenEdge), Imanol Erviti (Movistar), Maxime Bouet (AG2R), Romain Sicard (Europcar), Pim Lightart (Lotto), Gustav Larsson (IAM), Damiano Caruso (Cannondale), Bob Jungels (Trek), Peter Velits (BMC), Yuriy Trofimov (Katusha), Jan Bakelants (OPQS) and Lars-Petter Nordhaug (Belkin).
4'40" gap. Captain euphoria in the break.
Interesting stuff on the ticker. Will be an outrage if Giant-Shimano folds.
Guiberteau: "Video was a key for our success"
French media reported about the missed opportunity for French sprinter Arnaud Démare yesterday. The Four Days of Dunkirk and Tour de Picardie winner admitted that he and his team failed in the preparation of the sprint in Le Teil but the outcome also had to do with the recon and the perfect work done by the Giant-Shimano team. “We gave our riders a video of the last kilometers of the stage”, directeur sportif Christian Guiberteau told letour.fr. “For two days, they watched it, and again and again. They were very curious about the tricky finale so they knew exactly what to expect when they reached Le Teil. They have behaved with even more professionalism than what we expected from them. It's great to have a group of riders who are united and focused. The initial plan was to work for Reinhardt [Janse van Rensburg] but Nikias Arndt has been smart enough to improvise and go for the win.”...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. I love me a bit of Jan Bakelants!Correlation is not causation.0

Having mulled over picking him for PTP and decided not to, I'm preparing myself for Bakelants to take the win...0

Remind me again folks, which descent is this? The one where Bertie fell off or the one where there was an all mighty thunderstorm? Coasta won both those stages.Correlation is not causation.0

Look further back, there was a double narrowing around 1.6km out and then a sudden narrowing that appeared due to roadworks around the 1km to go mark. The final couple of corners were technical but fine and helped split the bunch a bit. It also narrowed suddenly after the line and the Lotto rider skidded to a halt and almost crashed avoiding the spectators.0 -

Where Bertie met tarmac
Where Froome unclipped and gave Bertie the evils
Where Bertie gave a sarky thumbs up to Nairo for not holding up the pace etc....at which Valverde took umbrage and clattered over to the Saxo team bus afterwards to have Spanish words with Bertie about it
That one.0 -

That one.
You forgot Bertie not doing a turn and making the blameless Froome drag them both back up to Nairo etc.0
