BMC have a strong climbing squad here and are totally shi t.

One BMC goes, Contador waits, catches in a flash, moves to the front softly, everyone dropped, he slows up. OPQS rider catches and goes to the front.

Contador goes to the front again. Soft pedalling while the rest have their chins on bars.

Back together. Well back to a group of 20 riders or so.
  • I can't imagine what noises Carlton would make if Cunego won the stage.

    Anyway, this got pretty good.

Contador has eased back in what looks like an attempt to shake Valverde ... and it doesn't work!

    Evans looking good.

Contador goes like fire. Old school float. Valverde only one to cover.

Spilak makes a move but Contador bridges easily with Valverde in his shadow. Great crowds on the hill.

Why doesn't Valverde go in front. Certain stage win for him if they catch the front group :s

Great riding by Poels and seemed to time that last attack perfectly. Might be hard to catch!

OPQS fooling us all and winning the races they are really targeting ...
  • Beastly by Poels.

Valverde might have stolen a second or two there at the end.

    Excellent win by Poels.

Valverde leads them home a few seconds later. Oh well should have worked.

Valverde gets a couple of seconds back but Nieve loses about 10...

Great riding by Poels. He looked as if he was spinning his gears beautifully. Impressive accelerations from Contador, good responding by Valverde - shame he didn't respond in kind and see if he could put Contador under pressure. Generally pretty good riding by a lot of people giving it a go on that last climb. Nieve lost time on that lead group. Not a team leader...

Poels isn't a home grown OPQS rider. He is from Vaconsoleil.

Nieve 26 down. Yates 40something. Evans right up there - bodes well again for the Giro.

Peols 9th on GC. Kwaitek 7th.

Good win by Poels. Great to see him back.
I hate that insipid final climb.
Used just about every year now and it never produces much of a selection.

  • I really enjoyed that

    Great win for Poels

Love watching Cunego smooth pedal it ...something the Schlecks must be dreaming about

and Pinto Pinot! Terrible throat infection, knee problems already this year - Madiot is giving him a whole new belief. I thought he was young ....but S Yates! He has fluidity, grace, self-belief and a testament to clean riding

sorry that is Simon not Sean

LOFL Kiri and PK abandoned with fatigue. Guys who pull on the front for three weeks in the biggest race of the year dropping 90% of the peloton are fatigued by a few days work (coming in the grupetto). Im sorry but that is an excuse too far. If that is the case they dont deserve to ride the TDF and should be sold on. Seb Henao, neo pro not only is he still there he is still finishing reasonably high. Poor Nieve.
