Typical cyclists, think nothing of spending £35 on a carbon bottle cage to save them 10g but don't want to pay £49 to see possibly the last accessible (Unless you live in Brazil) decent thing that one of the greatest British cyclists ever does right on their doorstep ;-)
There are support races, not sure what, I'm not bothered what they are as long as they help build up the atmosphere, it's kind of like seeing the bands you've never heard of at a gig before the main act. I reckon the atmosphere will be awesome, not sure why the upper tier is the same price as the lower (I got lower, near the finish line) but I bet they sell out.
Wiggo is in motivational mode at the moment which is always a joy to watch, he wants his name up there with the greats so there is no reason why he can't do it.
I would love to have seen Alex do it and I missed out on the first one for obvious reasons, from what I gather it was prohibitively expensive for him to do it at Lee Valley and I can't make it now it's up in Manchester, there are still a bunch of his old club members going so the blue and white will be represented in the crowd. I hope Alex gets it but with Wiggins having a go as well I fear it might be short lived.0 -

There are no other attempts scheduled currently.
Sorry, haven't written my question very well. Is there any racing taking place before Dowsett's attempt, like there is before Wiggins'?0 -
Id have liked to have watched Dowsetts attempt but the date isn't good for me, I guess doing it over a bank holiday weekend when theres a pretty big weekend of road racing going on isn't going to be great for ticket sales.
On the basis that Wiggins does a pretty decent time, Id reckon the whole thing will be done with, to an extent, for a while. Wiggin's position is pretty unique and there can't be many riders who could dedicate such time to it .... I do wonder how good this is for Dowsetts career in the bigger picture given that he may only hold the record for a month or so? he seems to have pretty much done nothing else and I see he's not on the Giro long list.2020/2021/2022 Metric Century Challenge Winner0 -
Can't see anyone getting near Wiggo for a while either. He looks in decent enough form, he's as good as anyone in a long TT and his track experience will give him a slight but possibly important edge over the likes of Martin or Cancellera if they were to attempt it.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

I asked him "why" he was so tour fixated especially given the Giro's nice long TT, and the TTT and he said "because its the Tour isn't it"...

Well given that the sky link worked for anyone, I'm not a sky customer and I'm certainly not a Rapha CC member and I bought a few.Blog on my first and now second season of proper riding/racing - www.firstseasonracing.com0 -

My daughter informs me that you don't even get a full quota of One Direction for the cash these days, whereas you presumably get 100% Wiggins for your money.
Crueller fingers than mine would type "Sky beg to disagree" at this point, but...0 -

Paul Weller should take a minute out of promotions for his latest album with a motivational track centre performance - perhaps with a specially commissioned song "Give Me 56 For My 49"...0 -

Haha, you never know his family are petrolheads, they might go to the TT ;-)0

Good stuff. Expect nothing less than 55 anyway.Contador is the Greatest0

Impressive consistency. 1.08 seconds difference between fastest and slowest kms (1m 04.74s, 1m 05.82s)
He'll have some very good data from that and will know exactly what he needs to do to keep it up for an hour.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
That will screw with Dowsett's head if his training numbers don't match... The last thing anyone wants is for riding around a track for an hour to be seen as futile...0

I think he'll be happy if he gets to hold the record until Wiggins goes. Don't think anyone's got any expectation of him being able to lift the bar higher than Wiggins can reach.
Plus he'll actually get plenty of exposure in Wiggins' attempt if the record is his.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
BW has posted a short clip of him on the London velodrome. What's interesting I thought was the bikes he's riding. Previous pics have shown what looks to be a Bolide, but in the clip he's riding a UK Sport Institute bike2020 Reilly Spectre - raw titanium
