Ah they always do that when they are in a small area, my mate does roller sessions on his patio and the trace wanders hundreds of metres up the road!0

Bobridge under way, live on UCI Youtube0

He seekms to have a quite upright posture. I thought he'd be a bit "flatter" than that0

Live on YouTube. He's broken. Can't get off bike0

Get the boy some oxygen ffs!
1st time I've seen them having to dismantle the bike below the rider, as he can't lift his leg over.0 -

#Hourrecord
1. Matthias Brändle - 51.852km
2. Jack Bobridge - 51,3km
3. Jens Voigt - 51.1km
Next up Rohan Dennis: 8 Feb, Switzerland“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Position on the bike didn't look conducive and I'm not sure the TDU was the best prep. Just shows that both Voigt's and Brandle's distances weren't cheap0
-
Real shame for Bobridge. On plus side - at least it breaks any assumption that it'll be broken by each next person to try it...0
-
The commentary was pretty awful but then most Aussie sports coverage is. They were saying he was third fastest after the attempt. I felt bad for him that he didn't do it but as Yellow Peril said it shows the other distances were pretty good. Only 200m more than Jens shows it was a lot stronger than people gave him credit for.0
-
I did say not to underestimate Brandle's TT ability. Poor Jack looked absolutely done for at the end of that.0
-
Certainly will crystallise Dennis's focus. I really don't think the TdU was a good idea so close to this unless it was a sponsors priority.0
-
Stamina was going to be the issue for Bobridge. How many similar sustained efforts has he done in his career as opposed to 4 minute IPs? Still think the main road testers will smash Brandle's, even Dennis if he's in form.0

I suspect Bobridge could have broken the hour record if he'd aimed for a conservative 52km, rather shit-or-bust for 53km plus. Very brave.“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -

@Scienceofsport Note #bobridge is on course for > 54km at 10km.Would've beaten #HourRecord by 4%.Way too aggressive early, paid later“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0 -
Seems a tactical disaster, but puts Voigt's effort in perspective... it was a damn good attempt from Jens!left the forum March 20230

Absolutey. Voigt measured his effort well even being able to up his pace towards the end. It was over for Bobridge after 15km.0 -
Based on the above does anyone want to hazard a guess/ revise their guess at what Wiggins could do?“New York has the haircuts, London has the trousers, but Belfast has the reason!0

Those graphs are very revealing.
Unfortunately Bobridge's career is, so far, a stark example of Ferrari's engine and tank metaphor. The guys is all engine, no tank.
I know this instance was more just a pacing issue but the engine/tank point still stands in the respect that his 4km is first rate Wiggins standard but his 50km is second rate Brandle standard.
In that light, I beg to differ with some of the above - this says more about Bobridge than Voigt or Brandle.0 -
It also questions the need for much track experience. Brandle had pretty much none at all. Although it's not a straight comparison, do people still say Tony Martin won't be a threat for Wiggins because he lacks track pedigree?0
