Do they wear glasses? Have they got a hat on? Does the person have rosy cheeks?

Let's just say yes it is and it is someone who is less tied down by the restrictions in terms of what you can do when on certain levels of the programme.

So it's Sarah Storey and Alex Dowsett then.

    Nicole Cook?

    Davina McCall?

Is there a "non-athlete" hour, or a clydesdale catagory?

Both surely. But I'm sure her target will be the main record. She could probably beat the para record on a BMX.

CW tweeting that it is indeed Sarah Storey.

    Good luck to her.

Guardian also reporting it. Had a couple of days testing up in Manchester to see if she had a reasonable crack at it, apparently - best of luck toher.

Good to see a few attempts lining up, actually - it feels to me like the hour is being re-established as something to aim at, although once serious markers are put down I suppose it'll return to the sort of thing that is only attempted rarely.

Noticed in the reports on Storey's attempt that Van Moorsel's current record is 46 km, on a non-aero bike! That's much closer to Merckx/Boardman/Sosenka than I thought.

It should close. I'd suspect she won't walk away with it. May only beat it by a short margin, if at all. Depends on how fast the track is running, and how well prepared she is.

You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
  • Dowsett should be able to do 52km off <390w if they ramp up the temperature. Women's record will need mid/high 200s for a rider with okay aerodynamics, so no walk in the park certainly.

BMC have said that soon they will announce that one of their riders is going to go for it.

What is it with announcing announcements these days?

I'm surprised Phinney isn't giving it a go for them
  • I enjoyed the tweet announcing BMC's announcement, something along the lines of "Big news in about an "hour""

I believe he indicated it would be end of 2015 for him. He's still working his way back to fitness after his crash.

I reckon Bobridge may be a more formidable prospect than two of them due to his track experience.

I disagree a bit - Dennis is on the upward curve of his career and next year could potentially see him breaking into the top 3, Bobridge has lots of track expertise and a great record in the pursuit so its the start of the specialists having their go. At the moment the likes of Wiggins or Martin could get the record quite comfortably but after these guys (and Dowsett too) have their go its not going to be an open goal any more.

I meant in terms of people really wanting a crack. Of course everyone is really waiting for Wiggo I guess.

It's a real shame as he was absolutely flying before the accident, he could have possibly won both national titles. I know some on here have their issues with him but he's a damn fine rider.

As linked a few posts above - CW reported the Dowsett and Storey attempts a week in advance of them happening. The "Storey undergoing tests" line came as much from CW's reportage as the Revolution's press release.

I assume there aren't a lot of 'aero' track cranks. Trying to squeeze out every last watt and meter of distance in these cases?
