In a years time I think my football posts will be done in the Championship thread.
Cherries on verge of selling Matt Ritchie to the Toon. Rumours are that they are going to treble his wages, so cannot blame him for moving on.
So that's 2 players moving down to the Champ to improve their finances and couple of players from the Champ and one possible from the French 2nd division moving up to Prem at Dean Court.
Its going to be a very very long season on the south coast.

In the same vein as all the players Rodgers brought in to Liverpool from say Southampton.

Shame he isn't getting the England job, at least nobody would suffer from the shock of winning. Still don't get where England fans get that from.

Lpool could do with some more sales.

Messi retires form International football because he hasn't even got close to achieving anything whilst Ronaldo is on the up but Barca are arguably much better than RM.

They've just banked £15m for Ibe who is supposed to be the replacement for Ritchie at Cherries. Can't see it myself. But would imagine he will be happy enough with £40-50k a week.

Chelsea bidding for Kante - would be a good addition if we can get him.

Looks like Leicester's hopes of getting top 5 next season are stuffed as the first of the team exits stage gauche, as they say .....

    So,

    This Pogba bloke.

Just how good is he? Ronaldo good? Messi good? Zola good? Actually, ignore the third option - no one will ever be that good.

    Discuss.

The key to previous good Mourinho squads was a defensive midfielder like Claude Makalele.
Maybe he's looking for an engine that can run 90 minutes non stop.

    1. Eddie Howe to manage the Gooners from 2017-18 season. They might just actually win something other that FA Cup. Although I come from a generation where the FA Cup was just as prestigious.

    2. England doomed again to failure after Allardyce states that Rooney has a role to play in England set up. He needs to be dumped and so does the over rated Joe 'Head & Shoulders' Hart.

Howe is like Moyes is like Rogers and Allardyce at Bolton. Been there years, got a good combination of footballers by both design and probably default, they have created a rapport and they look good in that setting.
Look at the Southampton players who left after their good season - it's no different for managers.

To be fair, Rooney played well in that midfield position. I think what transpired was that we took 6 strikers to France, who in England against English defences looked great and were ramped up by the media when in reality, none of them are world class. What an irony to take 6 strikers and yet we couldn't score for chuff.

I beg to differ on the England team. Rooney is at best an emergency midfielder, and was found wanting when it really counted. As a Captain?..... bl00dy useless, not a leader by any stretch. About a third of the squad were either injured or had hardly featured for their club first team during the season. IMO the only decent England player was probably Adam Lallana (ex Saints).

We'll just have to agree to disagree Mr Goo. I think Walker was excellent. Lallana was a little bit above average.
