    It would be interesting to see a comparison of Union pre and post professional game. There has been a radical shift in the size and power of players in the last 20 odd years. In addition the changes in tackling and collisions seems to be a fundamental part of the problem. All of the players now having dementia and cognitive issues seem to have played most, if not all of their career, in the professional era.

    There is a 15-30 year lag in the data though, so it will be while before we know the effect of any changes.
