I'm out for this weekend, I've already double booked myself. I'll try to actually look at the calendar and book a day.

We don't seem to be able to make this "mud-fest" project take off... it would be nice to have something kind of regular... like monthly rides.
" A little less conversation, a little more action" kind of thing...

When I was a kid I once asked my father what he wanted for his birthday and he answered "time". I thought it was a ridiculous answer, now I understand.
I'd like to do rides at least once a month too, I'll check the calendar when I get home. I might find it easier to keep up if I rode more.

Did a solo this morning. Left home at 7, came back at 10:30. Three interesting sections of off road. Will probably do another one next weekend, with 5-6 sections of off road for a total of 7-8 miles or so of rough... a couple of which stunning

So I looked at the calendar and the weekends look clear at the moment. So I stupidly asked my wife when would be a good day to go out. She looked at the big hole in the kitchen ceiling with bits of plumbing and wiring sticking out then back at me. I took this as a bad sign and resigned myself to more DIY. She then said "Well you're not going to finish it before September so you might as well go out." Didn't expect that, although it's probably best it it's not an all day ride.

I only do early mornings... 7 AM start and you're back before lunch for your DIY...

So long as I'm still capable of moving when I get back that works. Not sure about this weekend as my sister and kids are over from Italy so will check with them. You doing Saturday or Sunday this week?

OK, I'll see what's going on. That's more likely to be lunch with my parents and sister's family, but I could go straight there and shower and change. What route are you planning, can you cope with me trailing behind you?

A few secteurs around Ranmore area... if I meet you in Kingston it makes a shorter day for you and you can go faster...

    Optimist.
Sounds good. I'll confirm what's going on with the family and let you know.

Where is handy for you to meet Cyclingsheep?
I was thinking of leaving Richmond at 7 and being in Kingston 20 minutes later

50 miles from Richmond with 6 sections of offroad... probably 12-15 miles in total

    Under 40 miiles from Kingston

Anywhere is fine Paolo. I'm in Twickenham now but I'm easy on a meeting spot.

Alright, then I suggest 7 AM at the junction between Richmond bridge A 305 and Hill St.. then we can take the canal path to Kingston and meet up with Veronese
Happy to go with a bad forecast like last winter, unless it's really atrocious-weather warning kind of thing

Other takers welcome. Need knobbly-ish tyres

Looks like I'm in, my sister is leaving early on Sunday so family stuff is all on Saturday. I could meet you in Kingston Market place or in Canbury Gradens if you're riding along the river.
As an aside I'll put my Conti Speed Kings on as they are knobblier then the Randonneur Cross, but puncture protection is hopeless on them. Should I try Slime tubes or just put some sealant in normal tubes? Last time I made it back before I realised the rear was going down I certainly don't want to stop everyone to fix a flat.

Let's meet along the river then... gonna be 7:20 or so.

OK, I'll aim to be by the river along the park before Kingston Bridge by 7.15, if I'm not there as you pass I obviously failed to drag myself out of bed, or got volunteered for the airport run.

I'll head for the boat house in the little park, not the ones on the road before it.

Great ride out today with Ugo and Veronese. I managed to take out Steve on the innocuous wooden boards along Kingston waterfront about 2 miles into the ride (apologies for that mate), it seems the Froome curse can transfer as we were just talking about him as I went down. Rest of the ride was uneventful but very enjoyable. Thanks for the spin guys

What do you mean uneventful? How about all the Polka dot points I bagged?

You certainly made it look that way... you'll never get a tan if you keep riding in my shade...

I would have been quicker but I was feeling faint due to blood loss. It hurts more than a paper cut! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Got home ready to do some DIY and my wife said it wasn't worth it as she didn't want to deal with the mess. Add that to the downpour washing the mud off the bike and I'm happy.
Good ride, thanks guys. Nice to meet you sheep even if I didn't want to get quite so close. :-)
