Here's my problem, being 6ft1. I love a good hardtail, but like yours, which is of course a lovely bike, I can't get one that doesn't look like a gate! Especially when they're made of steel. It's extremely irritating.

    My Shan MV.

Will post some more pictures later, but this one was sent to me by my LBS when they'd finished as much as they could given the parts I'd supplied.

  • Hi Guys

I have just been given money to buy a completely new bike £1500. Thinking of on one 45650b, orange crush or Santa Cruz (frames only)

Being a novice interested to hear what hardtail, would be best for fun factor and value. Just bought 150mm rockshox revelation rl from chain reaction cycles.

Cheers guys in advance for any guidance.

Check out the bird zero, I have one and it's epic! Also 10% discount at the moment so a zero 2 which will be better spec'd the all of the above for less then £1500
  • Thanks for that. I will have a look at the Bird Zero. What size of frame? Are they big made for sizing? I have already bought the Rockshox Revelation RL 150mm and would this fork be compatible?

    This

Maybe the best looking alu frame and top spec for their price!!!

What ever the fork you have, will fit with the appropriate headset.

I run revs rl on my zero. I ride a medium at 5'9" I would like to try a large if I'm honest as I like a long bike. You can buy as frame only for £375 I beleive. It's a really playful frame that handles well, if anything the fork has been what's let it down for me so far. But it looks like that was a setup issue more than anything. We will see over the Christmas break.
  • The one one 45650b is only in the region of £200 and unsure if steel would be the best?

Only downside of the 45650b is the weight. Maybe cable routing is an issue if you don't like cables hanging from the frame
Steel is a great for frame building, springy and stiff, not to much around because is outdated though.

  • Thanks. For the money I will probably go with the steel frame as should be a good choice
  • I am building up a 45650b just now, and i think when i have all of the bits, thebuild should come in at around £1100, with SLX/XT 1 x 10 Drivetrain, Deore brakes, Sektor forks, answer, truvativ and crank bros finishing kit, hope wheels, so pretty good imo.
