Thankfully no. 2 has decided against his/her early breakaway and has been reeled back in by the peloton, where hopefully he/she will remain for another 10 days before sprinting to the finish faster than Kittel or Cav, but definitely not Greipel - Mrs does not want to give birth to a gorilla sized baby.
if the nipper pinches the midwife's ars* while the umbilicial is being cut, let us know. We'll being keeping tabs on the future talent.

Descent back down to Bourg d'Oisans was a bit tasty in torrential rain, I was frozen.
Me too! 2011? Bit wet wasn't it!
yes 2011. Very wet. I ended up having to go up a side road on a bend coming down the Ornon, couldn't slow enough and didn't fancy the drop of a few hundred metres the other side of a knee high wall!
Remember it well, fast descent off the Ornon in the wet with a huge drop to the right with just a foot high wall separating the road from the abyss! Agree with your synopsis of the climb up the Ornon, long drag up the valley then a fairly short, fairly dull climb. The first climb was good though, and of course the Alpe. I can release my power data for the Alpe if anyone wants it but I don't think a 68 minute ascent is going to raise too much suspicion!
The other guy said 2 hours

You'd have been quite a bit up the road from me (my swimming is best described as controlled drowning). My Strava stuff says 1.10 for Alpe, but the splits from the race show more than that for the climb. Just checked, 50 mins for the Ornon - felt like a lot longer!0 -

I'm assuming he's planning on trying to bridge at some point. A bit like Schleck did in 2011 with Montfort on the Galibier stage.Correlation is not causation.0 -

Chocolate chip shortbread for me from Costco. They're big and really quite nice.
Calm before the storm? Those on the Alpe will be able to see the helicopter soon and the noise level will go up a notch or two.0 -
