The riders in the lead of the stage are: Voigt (RTL), Jeannesson (FDJ), Riblon (ALM), Amador (MOV), Chavanel (OPQ), Boom (BEL), Danielson (GRS), van Garderen (BMC), Moser (CAN).

BMC riders been ripped a new one by team bosses!

He probably did a facepalm when Cadel went out the back.

Strong French presence in the breakaway. I'd love Chavanel to get the win. Probably a bit of a big ask though eh?

With the amount of climbing they are taking on I would think so, but always good to see him in the break.

If he stays there until the feed zone my fantasy team gets points!

Also, why does he have a different coloured bike? its good for identification.

Specialized gave him the bike for his Birthday in the 1st week - its the same colour as his car.

I go away with pandemonium and Froome under pressure and looking isolated. I return to a bog standard Sky-led procession with a break up the road. What happened?

I'm about to go out on my bike. What time do I need to be back to see the first ascent of the Alpe? And the second?

    About 3.30-4pm...

    Cheers.

It may be a little earlier, possibly from 3 onwards?

A break got away that everyone was happy with.

And as ATC said above, such a start to a race is not that unusual. It's just that we never get to see it on tv.

Sure. But the yellow jersey isn't generally isolated at the start of a race. For a moment there I really though we might be in for a decent race after all.

Ah, fair enough. I have to do the same, but that hat really wouldn't suit me.

I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for Laurens Ten Dam.

When he isn't racing with slobber all down his face, he isn't that bad.

Roche & Paulinho jump. Movi will help Sky keep control of Saxo, if Sky are smart about it.

Rule No.7 - as a rule of thumb they should be sharp enough to easily last through the off season

Are we sure that the two Saxo-Tinkers are trying to bridge to the break as opposed to just be bodies up the road to help a Contador attack later?

As it is there not getting very far, they've only got about 20 seconds on the peloton.
