Cav is not going to like that. Can't see anything other than him beaten fair and square there. German Eurosport going nuts- 5 stage wins- are Germany the new cycling superpower?

Only at sprinting - but possibly so...

Both Greipel and Kittel are massive hunks of man, almost more suited for Track sprinting than traditional road sprinting, but they ve slimmed themselves down enough that they can get over mountains now...and fair play to them!

They ve also taken the htc model and perfected it so that they are delivered so perfectly that they can just put out their massive power. The trouble before is that sprinters had to have a Kick/jump to get clear. With a team that is less of an issue. I would imagine that Robbie McEwan would be significantly less prolific against these guys

Think Cavendish got cocky and gave up too early, and Kittel is on top form anyway - Kittels reaction , he doesn't believe it himself!

Agree, he didn't use Steegmans fully, but in years gone by he'd have won anyway.

Did anyone else notice the guy in the chair at the side of the road when they crashed?

Quite amusing watching him scrabbling away thinking "oh sh*t oh Sh*t oh sh*t"

Think it was a pretty good leadout, Kittel was just too strong.

Possibly on the flat stuff - Kittel, Dangleknob, Griepel, not forgetting Ciolek. Must be the drugs.
It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.

Mr. Cavendish isn't having a very good Tour this year, is he?

There's a long way to go yet.

Not for sprint finishes there ain't.

Two more, then Paris. All the rest are mountainous.

and if he got 4 wins in total it will be a good tour. I'm not saying he will, but Cav has often been written off.

So Germany 5 - Sky 1. With a history involving T-Mobile & Gerrolsteiner is it time we had a specific thread on how the Germans must be doping?

Just to be clear I am joking, but there is a serious point in there somewhere

If Froome refuses to move the white glasses at least he could ask Hesjedal for advice.

Incredible scalp for Kittel - beating the best sprinter on the planet fair and square with no sideshows or excuses for anyone.

Cav must be wishing he was back in the glory days at Sky picking up 3 wins!
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

HAS he often been written off? Not for a few years, if at all.
Manx Missile, fastest sprinter on the planet etcetera.

Bet he changes teams again next year.

Isn't his best lead-out buddy joining him at OPQS next season?

So 3 sprint stages left, including Paris. Still a fair chance of Cav making 3 wins but he'll not be happy - he moved from Sky because he had little support and did not like "only" winning 3 in 2012.

Not if the press release we are expecting on Aug 1st happens. I still think OPQS need to sign Bernie as well to organise things prior to the final Km

Every Tour when he missed out on the first one or two sprint stages I've often read it - particularly on these spoiler threads on BR that he's "lost the edge" etc... then a couple of stages later he's the Manx Missile again.

    agree

And why the heck should he? IMO other teams have upped their game on sprinting/lead out trains/well drilled squads etc. Winning stages ain't as easy for him as it used to be. IMO.

On the line Cav was looking over but Kittel was stretching himself over. Think that probably won it for him.

Argos is the only credible team in the peloton regarding doping.
