Good link. I was wondering why Flecha changed his mind to ride another season. Maybe he was helping out Bjorn.Contador is the Greatest0

A report in Spanish specialist website biciclismo.com cites Movistar directors Eusebio Unzué and José Luis Arrieta as saying that they were trying to sign Chris Froome in 2011 when the Briton produced his breakthrough result in the Vuelta a España

So does that mean he would have become an interesting, exciting rider?0

Who knows. He probably not have made it 6months due to mental fatigue. He also wouldnt have made enough money to go to Monaco, train with Tichie Richie and afford enough to meet the ever increasing expectations. He would also have been taught how to ride with his head up and wouldnt have been coached by a non-cyclist who has him doing spin classes every so often up the mountain.Contador is the Greatest0

What a non-story.
Movistar along with a number of teams were trying to sign him up during the 2011 Vuelta. That list included Garmin, and AG2R (who offered him more money to move than Sky ended up offering him to stay). I know that Riis was also after him - mates spotted Froome being schmoozed by Riis (stomach-turning thought) in a bar one evening.
But he ended up staying with the team who he felt would be the best for helping him to reach his potential. Isnt that a lovely story?
And for those who hanker after him going to Movistar - the team that couldnt understand why Alex Dowsett would want to have a TT training bike at home - just think on this: with Hair Plugs and Froome as top dogs there, there may have been no room for Quintana to strut his stuff...0 -

At what point does a rider who attacks rather than wait for the last 1km, manage to qualify for the Greased 'interesting exciting rider' badge?
Hang on, I'm having deja vu, sure I've asked you this before

I can't help but think if he didn't ride for sky he would get a lot less stick. If Quintana had won like that on Ventoux it would have been proclaimed as the second coming of Christ, Froome does it and it's boring....0 -
Oh RR, thank you for your lovely opinion, I am overjoyed to read it. I think you deserve a cup of tea and a kitkat for that. You should stop commenting on things I post, which I know you love to do, even if you are too worried to reply directly to me, rather through people quoting me then addressing `for those` when you mean me.
So, **for those** that wondered why I posted the link originally. You will love this, pure rocket science logic. I hadnt heard of it before and thought that those of you who hadnt either would be interested to read it. A few silly and predictable comments followed, so not wanting to be left out **shudder** I gave my own tongue-in-cheek reply.Contador is the Greatest0 -

“The staff at Team Sky were there to execute their designated task and think of nothing else. It was efficient, it was professional, it put other teams to shame – but it also wasn’t a lot of fun.”
Other quotes are good. other examples of Sky being devoid of humanity. I might buy the book.
Will be fun to see Sky shiver when they get met with Astanas power punch. Then there is the small matter of an in form and focused Contador. Froome will be shivering in his boots and may have to console himself in the arms of his little friend.Contador is the Greatest0 -

No worries. Like the idea of the Greased "Interesting exciting rider" badge. Have to have a think about who to award that one to.0 -

If anything the riders were enjoying winding Cav up (by leaving the empty coffee pod in the machine) and the team even got involved (by making an 'amusing' poster). Now I appreciate it was hardly high satire, but to me that's more an example of the team having a laugh and trying to build some spirit with a harmless bit of fun.
Edit: Admittedly I work alone from home, I'd love it if someone left a coffee pod in the machine as a joke. Please will someone just leave a coffee pod in the machine? In fact I might just leave a pod in the machine myself. (I'll need to get a coffee machine first).0 -

I just don't see this. Nibbles is a rough equal to Froom, but his TTing is slightly weaker though his support is possibly better, Contador looks like he's on a downward spiral, despite having some very good support riders. Pre empting the tour next year, Astana, SKY and Saxo are still the 3 teams with the best chance. Think Pubehead Valverde won't let go, despite Quintana being the great talent in the Movistar team, that will be what costs them....0 -

Bet you £50 he won't; charity of the other's choice?
Knocking Froome for being gangly and Sky for being dull is fair enough, but to translate this to a serious challenge from Nibs is wishful thinking. Tour history is full of plucky Campanissimos who looked great in the Giro/Vuelta but couldn't step up to a Tour win.___________________
