I don't think you can blame McQuaid for the state of the economy.

McQuaid claimed that cycling's never been healthier and credits himself for this
  • Gadret move is interesting.

I guess when your team folds you cant be too picky. Still I hope that they dont make him into a mountain domestique with zero class, heart or interest to the fans.

He'll probably end up winning the Vuelta. In the most classless and heartless manner he possibly can.

Crelan Euphony gone too, and Accent-Jobs have stopped sponsoring Accent-Jobs Wanty :(
  • Bakelants to OPQS.

O bum! One of my normal picks has gone over to the dark side. Sigh! Still I can start picking Uran again as he has come back into the light! :)

Sojasun ceases as talks with a co-sponsor fell through.

Igor Anton and De Gendt fighting for last 30th spot at OPQS. Who would you buy? Wow, this is some buyers market

If he doesnt have a team by the end of the month De Gendt quits

Re rumours that Champion System could stop - have sought clarification twice from team re next year, no reply on that. Simply got assurance

To be fair though, even beyond the economies, CSS was one of the least value for money teams in cycling. Also, Schnaidt seemed to stall this year there, will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Drapac should now all but surely be PCT.

A few interesting comments from De Gendt:

Not sure who I would want to get that spot. De Gendt makes sense but I think OPQS are taking Uran seriously and want to have some good riders to support him fully. Not sure the team needs another rider like De Gendt.

It would also make sense given that the spot for the 30th place is only there becuase Acevedo, who was signed to help Uran, has reportedly gone to Garmin instead:

  • About-turn and Acevedo's off to Garmin instead of OPQS, according to reports - so room for a little De Gendt at Lefevere Mansions after all, perhaps

Apologies if this is a repeat post, but here's a list of all the riders from folding teams, detailing which teams they're confirmed to ride for next year (if any). A shocking number of riders still without contracts.

I notice Danny van Poppel on the list. I thought I'd heard rumours that he and Boy were off to Trek?
  • What a disaster it would be if Thomas De Gendt decided to knock it on the head just over a year after a podium finish in the Giro.

Of course we don't know what his agent may be asking in wages and bonuses etc. but if a rider of his calibre isn't close to a deal it's a bad picture.

Thanks for the link. Vast majority are unknown to me. Hoogerland, Van Poppel`s, Flecha, De Gendt, Marczynski are all bad losses - VS riders all.

Oh my. Would be surprised especially given:

Some riders in the peloton are beginning to doubt Bjarne Riis' promises of a new sponsor or co-sponsor for the 2014 season. Nicki Sorensen said that if he gets a new contract, he expects it will include a pay cut, while Alex Rasmussen has said that he will concentrate on the track in 2014, and then look to join Riis' team in 2015.

Not really a transfer - couldn't be bothered starting a new thread.

Yates twins sign for Orica-Greenedge "if I went to Sky then I'd end up working on the front like a slave"

"Slave" may be overstating it, but I see his point.

Really? He's a neo-pro, he needs to learn the ropes and doing the spade work is the accepted way of doing that.

I'm sure that quote is taken out of context a bit, but if his attitude is really one where he thinks working for the team is in some way beneath him, then he isn't going to last long as a pro.

I like them more and more. Showing he has a good head on him. Echoing everything I have said before about these young exciting talents going to the factory.

Looks like the CW article has disappeared for now...

  • That's some attitude and will add some hype. I hope they are up to it.
