I can't see the the Police doing anything but taking this to court for
1/ Failure to stop
2/ failure to report
3/ careless driving.
What sentance teh court give will of course be out of the hands of the Police.
Mitigation wise her Tweet stuffs her in terms of not knowing whe had hit a cyclist and also if remourse is claimed, further her other tweets will likley not help her on careless (Driving without due care and attention).
I doubt they have enough to go for dangerous driving.
I think the interview was a bad idea, now the CPS will know what yarns will try and be spun, claim in mitigation to be a cyclist when you are not will look worse than 'fessing up', it seemed mostly about her breaking the 11th commandment than anything else "Thou shall not get caught!"
Prediction
Ban of 6 moths for careless
Fine of circa £600 plus costs (solicitor will cost as much again), unless she has been sacked by then!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

However, I think whatever happens we need tougher road laws and stricter enforcement of those laws in instances where a driver has been careless and either hit, maimed or taken the life of another person.
There is so much that could come from this with the right kind of energy - not least of which, addressing the ignorance about cyclists that Emma expressed.Food Chain number = 4

We have tough laws covering death by careless, angerous and while uninsured.
I hate them, in general principle a person should be punished for their actions, not the incidental result, so perosnally I'd prefer a tougher penalty for all where there is a significant risk of death or serious injury for bad driving regardless of whether anyone is hurt at all or not, otherwise it's a shutting the stable door excercise.
Then because the Daily Mail et al (and that includes US when it comes to cyclists) a causing death by driving without reasonable consideration for another safety.
Recently a driver was jailed for causing a death while uninsured, in his case he was unaware he was uninsured as there had been an admin mixup, the judge didn't want to jail him, but to the letter of the law he was guilty and the judges hands were tied, indicating how bad the law was (Typical New Labour I have to say, ill thought out and kneejerk in response to public opinion).
Very little sentancing these days is outside of sentancing guidelines (as appeals nearly always succeed) don't blame the courts, blame the politicians.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

I was put in hospital for a week by an uninsured driver once doing a smidsy on my vespa.
£50 fine and 3 month ban. I attended outpatients for longer so no, the laws are not tough enough.0 -

Here are her words:
“”He [Mr Hockley] and another cyclist were coming down the hill at quite a speed.
“He came on to my side of the road. I pulled to the left as quickly as I could. He was right in front me.
“I felt his handlebar just clip my wing mirror and my initial reaction was to brake, stop and look in the mirror.
“He did wobble slightly but he was upright, he was fine. I didn’t just leave the scene, because there wasn’t a scene.
I don’t really see I was in the wrong. If I had been in a bad accident I would have stopped.
“If I have hurt him then I am sorry. I am not against cyclists at all.”
Anyone still wanna defend her now? Not sure why it's taken her 4 days to blame the cyclist? Oh yes i do, obviously been told by the Solicitor to deny everything and blame the scummy child eating cyclist (good tactic, will probably win).0 -

Really? From eveningnews24.co.uk:Mr Hockley, 29, a freelance chef, said he was lucky not to have been seriously hurt following the crash.
He said: “Me and one other guy were on the road by ourselves descending a hill with a blind right hand turn at the bottom.
“As I approached it a car came shooting round the corner coming towards us, narrowly avoiding my co-rider and into the side of me - hitting me with her front wing mirror.”
Mr Hockley said he went “shooting off into a hedge” but “miraculously” stayed upright as he came back onto the road after riding straight through the other side.
He said: “It was so quick that all I could think about was keeping on my bike and hoping for the best. When we realised what had happened and that I was alright me and the other rider just burst out laughing with sheer delight really that I was standing up and not under the wheels of the car.”
So he says he wasn't knocked off, she now says he wasn't knocked off, she didn't stop (they seem to agree on that) and whether she therefore saw what she'd done is debatable at best.
Her tweet says she knocked him off "definitely". Who do you believe? Him and her (now), or her tweet? Should she be punished for what she tweeted she did, or what she actually did?0 -

.
What was the case? I simply don't buy the "I didn't know I wasn't insured" claim, it is up to the driver to check he's covered, had he noticed his premiums had stopped, claim he received no letters from his insurer?0 -
Greg, I'm not sure whether your post was in response to me.
The witch hunt was a result of her twitter post, I'm not cool with that. I explained that I'm not into contacting her company and all that crap, and that we needed more information as there seems to be a clear difference between both accounts. There may be many cyclists with egg on their faces if it turns out the cyclist was lying.
But MBC's post above mine does point out one absolute truth, she hit the cyclist and she was aware of hitting the cyclist.
Whether the cyclist was knocked off the bike or not is non-consequential. The collision was at speed and she didn't stop and on that basis she needs to be punished accordingly.
There is also the other 'evidence' of her irresponsible driving (photos of her dashboard displaying 95mph and cars holding her up) and that goes further to depict the type of attitude she has towards driving.Food Chain number = 4

I have to say, I'm not entirely sure how the cyclist could hit a wing mirror, windscreen and be knocked off whilst staing upright, riding through a hedge, twice - then completing a sportive.
Here he is at the finish line.

She has employment woes because she's clearly tweeting like a twunt in her own name. Its not good in professional services to be a published twunt. "Hello. I'm Emma. Yes, the twunt. But I am good with numbers." Lets face it, she's bound to be a twunt around the water cooler as well. Her employer is probably relived.0 -
You know, I read his version as:"Got caught by the off-side front wing, bounced off the mirror, careened into a hedge that I bounced along for a bit and when I managed to steer myself out, I'd got back into the road at a complete stop and laughed myself stupid at still being alive and in one piece"
and her version as:"Bloody cyclist got in MY way"Chunky Cyclists need your love too! :-)

Amazing how she doesn't get it. She's still basically apologising for having accidentally confessed to breaking the law and the interviewers seem not to notice this.
Still, at least we now know that if you knock a cyclist off, then 'stopping at the scene of the accident' involves bringing the car to a halt and checking your rear view mirror to see if your victim is standing or not and, if they are upright, it's ok to go. You don't actually have to get out of the car or anything inconvenient like that.....Faster than a tent.......0 -
She really doesn't get it. She regrets the tweet but not the accident. The fact that she appeared with her solicitor must mean that she's expecting legal repercussions. I hope this goes to court so that the truth can come out. Her version is just so different from the cyclist's version that someone is not being truthful. The fact that her tweet said that she knocked someone off their bike says a lot about that, I think.Shut up, knees!

I think the scumbag's blown it.
I'f she'd got a really good solicitior, they'd have gotten her a PR agent.
She should have been looking at a new career in offensive chatshows and slebrity TV.
But she's been too slow off the mark. She hasn't really capitalised on the publicity.0 -

Her tweet said eh definately knocked off a cyclist and then had a rant, but we've alse seen Twexageration at work, it MAY have been an exageration of events....
Various reports suggest he went up the bonnet and windscreen and stayed on his bike, glancing blow and stayed on his bike or fell off in the hedge, only one is true......Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
